On October 2, 2024, we have a Solar Eclipse New Moon in Libra at 11:46 AM Pacific Time

The Moon will be at 10 degrees and 2 minutes of Libra when the Solar Eclipse begins and will be at 10 degrees and 3 minutes of Libra when the Solar Eclipse is complete.

Remember a New Moon is a time in which the Moon and Sun are conjunct in the same sign. Both the Moon and Sun are at 10 degrees of Libra.

A new moon represents the very beginning of a cycle, it’s when we are planting seeds for what we want more of, what we want to cultivate, grow, invite into our life. Or also what we want to let go of so we can make room for something else.

During a new moon, the moon will have a particular flavoring or energy depending on what season we are in astrologically. And we can use that zodiac flavoring to help us create goals, ideas, to make progress on areas of our life that are most supported by that current energy.

On October 2, 2024, we have a New Moon in the astrological sign of Libra. But this is not just any New Moon, it’s a Solar Eclipse.

Eclipse energy is that game-changer energy where memorable moments in life are made.

It’s intense, yes, so we can get antsy during this time but truthfully there’s not much you can do to stop whatever the eclipse brings with it so this is a time to surrender.

This is the time to find the silver lining that thing to be grateful for and to trust that if something is coming to an end, if we find we are suddenly having to move homes, change jobs, losing relationships with loved ones, that the darkness we’re experiencing is not an end, rather we are being planted for something even greater. Something we may not be able to comprehend yet.

And I’m saying this to you as much as I’m saying this to myself – this is a period where it’s important to keep the faith. To find a sense of safety and center in ourselves absent any material items. To allow ourselves to explore new ways of thinking, being, creating, showing up for ourselves and others because we may find that what used to work for us or what used to be available for us is no longer.

How will this Solar Eclipse Libra New Moon affect you?

Find which house Libra rules in your natal chart. This will tell you which area of your life you’ll want to set a new intention in, or which area of your life a new chapter is likely to emerge in.

Be mindful of where you focus your energy at this time. In about six months from now when we talk about the Libra Full Moon in April 2025, we’ll be harvesting the seeds we planted during this New Moon.

If you have any personal planets or angles around 5-15 degrees, especially 10 degrees of Cardinal Signs: Aries, Libra, Cancer, Capricorn, you are likely to feel this Solar Eclipse New Moon in Libra energy the most.

Normally with a New Moon, like I said, the energy is about a new chapter, a new beginning. But eclipse energy works a little differently because it builds off of previous energy and can amplify things we’ve already experienced. That’s exactly what’s happening here too.

Think back to what was happening in your life around October 14, 2023, that’s when we had the First Solar Eclipse New Moon in Libra, which activated the energy of the Aries-Libra axis in your natal chart. It’s also the New Moon that was connected to the Penumbral Lunar Eclipse in Libra we had back in March 2024.

Between August – November 2024 the nodal axis will conjunct 5 degrees, which is where the Penumbral Lunar Eclipse occurred. This means that whatever we experience at this Penumbral Lunar Eclipse may not have happened immediately. We may not have experienced any kind of changes or surprises until the Nodes reached 5 degrees of Aries/Libra between August and November. Which we are right in the middle of that timeframe.

Whatever you were planting the seeds of, or whatever was taking up a lot of your focus and attention at that time is likely to come around again at this time.

Remember that Eclipses are divided or categorized by Saros Series, so on average eclipses repeat similar themes every 18.5 years or so until the lesson is completed. This particular Solar Eclipse is part of Saros Series 144. This energy began in April 1736 and will complete in July 2493.

The last time we experienced this particular Saros Series energy was in September 2006, so think about what was going on in your life at that time, because similar themes are likely to occur.

The last time the nodal axis was on the Aries-Libra axis was October 2014 through 2016, so again, similar experiences you had at that time may bubble up again now. Also look back, think back at what was happening in your life between April 2004- March 2006.

The eclipse is most potent for those who are in its direct path. For this Annular Solar Eclipse New Moon in Libra, the eclipse will primarily occur over the Pacific Ocean. The Hawaiian Islands, Easter Island, and South America will be impacted most.

Eclipse Season

Libra is the natural ruler of the 7th house of partnerships. And the South Node, what we need to release collectively is in Libra. The North Node is in Aries, the warrior, the natural ruler of the first house of self. It’s the direction we need to move forward in collectively.

It sounds odd that our society would need to think more about the self, but hear me out.

Aries is a masculine energy ruled by Mars. It’s a muckraker energy that isn’t afraid of carving a new path, of being a trailblazer, of doing things differently.

Libra is the peacemaker, ruled by Venus. It’s a feminine energy that is seeking balance.

Libra is the Peacekeeper, the Diplomat of the zodiac.

Libras forever hope that all parties in a conflict will be satisfied. And given that Libra is the natural ruler of the 7th house, which is all about marriage and partnerships, issues relating to other people, you can see why Libra energy is so diplomatic.

Libra’s natural mode of living is in partnership with others.

Intimate relationships are quite important to them, as are issues of social justice, keep in mind that the symbol used to represent Libra in the zodiac is actually the scales of justice.

Libra energy is people-person energy, but because the shadow side is Aries energy, a more self-focused energy, the shadow side of Libra energy can involve being uncertain as to how you fit into the world of others.

Do you know someone or have you ever met someone who goes out of their way to avoid conflict and always seems to act as a mediator because they understand and empathize with all sides of a dispute?

That’s Libra energy; it can be annoying when you want someone to validate your point in an argument, but Libras will go out of their way to avoid a quarrel and can struggle to make a decision if they feel unsure as to how this decision may affect others because they can understand different perspectives fairly easily. That’s part of being an air sign.

Personally I like Libra season because in addition to Taurus, Libra is naturally ruled by the planet Venus. Venus is the Goddess of love, beauty, and relationships, so it’s not surprising that Libras are known for their good taste, elegance and charm. They are seekers of harmony and beauty.

Artistic pursuits of all kinds provide an outlet for Libras’ love of beauty, again another Venusian quality. So Libra energy benefits from strengthening their will to act in favor of their higher purpose, which ultimately lies in dedicating themselves to humanity at large. That’s the social justice element.

Libra is an air sign as I mentioned before.

The Air element is masculine or yang energy. People with a lot of air placements tend to live in their heads, being logical and scientific, as well as curious about what is around them and detached in their outlook. They dream the world into being with their future-oriented conceptions. They are less likely to take sides, and thus provide the social linkage that can join disparate groups to each other.

But the shadow side of air energy is that thoughts can enter your mind easily; think of your mind like an open window on a windy day without a screen; there’s a lot that can come in; anything and everything really, so it’s important to have some discernment.

Our actions are being gifted a little bit of fresh energy as well at this time because Libra is also a Cardinal sign. Cardinal energy is Initiating, assertive, direct, and active. Cardinal placements in the birth chart represent where you take charge, assert your will power, and make your desires, and intentions known. So this is go-getter energy, building energy
