Cancer New Moon June 2025

Cancer New Moon | June 2025

I’m a Western tropical astrologer and use the whole sign house system, where your rising sign rules your entire first house. I believe we each hold all 12 zodiac energies within us. My approach blends planetary archetypes, zodiac symbolism, and historical patterns to create an “energetic weather report”—so you can plan, reflect, and honor how you feel based on the cosmic climate.

Of course, general forecasts can only go so far. For personalized insight into how this New Moon in Cancer will affect you, explore elevated aura’s astrology offerings here.

On June 25, 2025, at 3:31 AM Pacific Time, we’ll welcome a New Moon in the nurturing, intuitive sign of Cancer. At this moment, both the Moon and the Sun will be conjunct at 4°07’ of Cancer, initiating a fresh lunar cycle rooted in emotional truth, home, and soul nourishment.

New Moons are powerful portals for intention-setting. They invite us to plant seeds—energetic or literal—for what we want to call into our lives. What are you creating? Manifesting? Reshaping? These intentions are especially potent when aligned with the themes of the zodiac sign hosting the New Moon. In this case, that’s Cancer: the sign of home, family, emotional security, nourishment, and inner belonging.

To work with this energy more intentionally, take a look at your natal chart and find which house Cancer rules for you. This will show you the area of life being activated under this New Moon.

Unless you’re an Aries Rising, Cancer will not rule your fourth house—and that’s totally okay! For example, I’m an Aquarius Rising, so Cancer rules my sixth house of health, daily rituals, work, service, and small pets. Meanwhile, my husband is a Scorpio Rising, which means Cancer rules his ninth house of long-distance travel, foreign cultures, spirituality, publishing, and higher education. Same moon, different medicine.

So when setting your Cancer New Moon intention, ask yourself:

  • What area of my life is being illuminated by this New Moon?
  • What do I want to see grow, shift, or expand here?
  • Six months from now, what would I love to feel or experience in this part of my life?

It may surprise you to realize that six months from now brings us into 2026. Yes—this Cancer New Moon is helping you lay the emotional and energetic foundation for your 2026 self. The Cancer Full Moon will occur on January 3, 2026, and when that moment arrives, you’ll likely hear me ask: What was happening in your life around June 25, 2025? What seeds did you plant back then?

Be intentional with your focus. What you think about, talk about, write about, and dream about—these things matter. Where your attention goes, your energy flows. And that’s what grows.

If your Rising or Sun sign is near 4° of a Cardinal sign—Cancer, Capricorn, Aries, or Libra—this lunation may feel especially personal and profound. Trust whatever emotions rise. Cancer reminds us that our feelings are not weaknesses; they are sacred messengers.

This New Moon is not only a reset—it’s a reckoning. An opportunity to come home to yourself. To create safety, softness, and stability from the inside out.

All About Cancer

Cancer is the nurturer of the zodiac—the soft yet powerful heart-centered energy that teaches us how to care, connect, and create emotional safety. As the natural ruler of the fourth house, Cancer governs our home life, family dynamics, emotional foundation, ancestral roots, and how we tend to our inner world.

This is the sign of the Mother—of motherhood, pregnancy, nourishment, memory, and the sacred space of the womb. Cancer energy is deeply intuitive, emotionally intelligent, and sensitively attuned to the undercurrents others often miss. It rules the stomach, breasts, chest, and womb—symbolizing how we feed, protect, and emotionally nurture ourselves and others.

Cancerian energy is maternal in the truest sense: empathetic, receptive, deeply caring. It’s that instinct to wrap someone in a blanket, cook them a warm meal, or simply sit with them in their pain. It’s the soul-level urge to create safety and to tend to the emotional well-being of our loved ones—even when we forget to do the same for ourselves.

Like the crab that symbolizes Cancer, there’s a tender, watery heart hidden beneath a tough, protective shell. Cancer puts on a brave face, a stoic exterior—but beneath that armor is a waterfall of feelings, intuitive insight, and longing for deep emotional connection.

Cancer also speaks to our physical home, our sacred space. Housing, land, nourishment, and the emotional ecosystem we build with our family—chosen or biological—all fall under Cancer’s domain. Cancerian energy is also found in caregiving and service-based professions like social work, nursing, hospitality, therapy, and even astrology—anywhere emotions, empathy, and care are core.

While Cancer is a cardinal sign—initiating, creative, and quietly courageous—it leads not with logic, but with emotion. Its form of leadership is soft power, quiet resilience, and intuitive knowing. And because this energy is so attuned to the emotions of others, those with strong Cancer placements often act like emotional sponges, picking up on what’s unspoken and tending to what’s been buried.

With Jupiter now transiting through Cancer (from June 2025 to June 2026), this New Moon is magnified in meaning and potential. Jupiter expands whatever it touches, and in Cancer, it calls us to return home—to our hearts, our lineage, and the spaces that nourish us. There is deep emotional healing available now, especially around family dynamics, mother wounds, childhood memories, and your relationship with safety and belonging.

If you have strong Cancerian placements—Sun, Moon, Rising, or personal planets in Cancer—you may feel this New Moon and Jupiter transit more intensely. You’re being asked to reclaim your emotional sovereignty, not by hardening your shell, but by creating the kind of environment where your softness is safe.

This is a time to reimagine what home means to you. To choose emotional security over performative strength. To honor the wisdom of your inner mother. And to let the waters of feeling guide you back to your truth.

On a collective level, what does the Cancer New Moon have in store for us?

Before we dive into the aspects—how the planets are communicating with one another—I want to flag a few things that immediately stand out to me.

As with every New Moon, the Sun and Moon are conjunct, sharing the same degree of the zodiac. This time, they meet in Cancer. The Moon rules Cancer, so she feels deeply at home here—it’s her sacred space, her sanctuary. But she’s not alone. She’s hosting the Sun, who brings a very different kind of energy. The Moon represents our inner world: emotions, intuition, nourishment, and the unseen tides of our psyche. The Sun, on the other hand, is bright, bold, external, and expressive.

So even though the Moon is in her domicile, her comfort zone, the presence of the Sun can feel… a little disruptive. Like when you’re craving solitude but have a houseguest who just won’t take the hint. There’s a subtle tension here—between what we feel and what we’re being asked to show, between rest and radiance, between softness and structure.

Mercury is also in Cancer at 28°, just shy of the critical 29th degree—a pivotal threshold in astrology. The 29th degree is sometimes called the “anaretic” or “fated” degree. It’s a final exam of sorts, a pressure point where we’re asked: Did you really learn the lesson of this sign? If not, it may circle back for one last integration.

Mercury at this degree suggests heightened sensitivity in how we think, speak, and interpret. Mercury is preparing to shift into Leo the day after this New Moon, and just days later, on June 29, Mercury will enter its pre-retrograde shadow. If you’ve been with me since May, you might recall that I mentioned June as the calm before the storm. And it’s true—July brings a cosmic slowdown, with five planets turning retrograde. (I’ll break all of that down in an upcoming July astrology guide.)

But for now, just know this: your thoughts and communication may feel foggy, emotional, or even misunderstood under this New Moon. Give yourself and others grace. Feelings may be louder than facts right now.

And then we have Uranus—planet of shocks, awakenings, and rapid change—sitting at 29° of Taurus, another critical degree. Uranus is more than ready to leave Taurus behind and shift into airy, curious Gemini in the coming weeks. Why? Because Uranus hates being in Taurus. Taurus moves slowly and craves stability; Uranus wants change yesterday. When these two clash, the result can feel like something needs to break in order to evolve.

This is the kind of energy that coincides with literal and metaphorical earthquakes. It wouldn’t surprise me if something—personally or collectively—feels like it shakes the very ground beneath our feet. Uranus at this final degree signals one last chaotic upheaval before exhaling in Gemini.

And speaking of planets that aren’t exactly thriving…

Both Saturn and Neptune are now in Aries. Neptune rules Pisces, where it’s usually at home in dreamlike, imaginative waters. In fiery, action-oriented Aries, Neptune can feel disoriented—like a mirage that disappears the closer we get. This can lead to confusion, delusion, or fighting for an ideal that only exists through rose-colored glasses.

Saturn, ruler of Capricorn and Aquarius, is the wise elder of the zodiac. In youthful, impulsive Aries, Saturn’s lessons can feel frustrating—like trying to parent a child who insists they already know better. There’s a tension here between impulse and discipline, fantasy and structure.

Now let’s get into how the planets will be communicating during the Cancer New Moon.

As always, New Moons are invitations to slow down, turn inward, and plant the seeds for what we wish to call in. Often, our clarity at this time comes from the Sun illuminating the emotional, Moon-ruled realm within us—bringing balance between our conscious awareness and our subconscious needs. It’s a reset, yes, but also a recalibration. And with so many other planetary influences at play, there’s a lot to consider this lunation.

Sun Sextile Mars: Confident, Courageous, and Clear

The Sun will be forming a harmonious sextile with Mars, offering us confidence and determination—even in the face of repeated obstacles. Mars in Virgo sharpens our focus on the details: we’re not just taking action; we’re acting with precision, integrity, and purpose. This energy supports productivity, especially when it comes to tasks we’ve been avoiding. There’s also a boost in our ability to communicate desires directly, which can strengthen personal relationships. This is magnetic, charismatic, leadership-coded energy.

Remember, Virgo isn’t just the sign of purity—it rules the sixth house of daily habits, health, service, and the body. So this Mars energy isn’t reckless. It’s intentional. It’s about getting clear on what true healing requires—and having the courage to take the first step.

Jupiter Conjunct the Sun and Moon: Expansion, for Better or Worse

Jupiter, now in Cancer, is conjunct both the Sun and Moon during this lunation. This alignment brings a generous, optimistic, and emotionally expansive energy—one that supports new beginnings in relationships, creative pursuits, studies, and even travel. It may feel like a breath of fresh air emotionally, especially if you’ve been moving through grief or stagnancy.

But Jupiter, ever the amplifier, doesn’t distinguish between “good” or “bad.” It expands what is. So if there are unresolved issues—like entitlement, emotional excess, or ego inflation—those could also get blown out of proportion. Your natal Jupiter placement and its aspects will influence how this plays out for you personally.

Sun Square Saturn: Tests of Character

The Sun is forming a square with Saturn, and this aspect reminds us that growth often comes with pressure. You may feel the weight of responsibility, criticism, or limitations—externally or internally. Saturn is the cosmic taskmaster, asking: Are you cutting corners? Have you truly prepared for what you’re asking for? This is a test of character. Can you remain patient, grounded, and ethical even when things get hard?

Saturn isn’t here to punish you. Saturn wants you to be ready. Saturn believes in you. But Saturn also knows shortcuts don’t lead to lasting success. This square may bring up discomfort, but it’s offering you a foundation that can actually hold what you’re building.

Neptune Square the Moon and Sun: Fog, Illusion, and Emotional Overwhelm

Neptune is also forming squares to the Moon and the Sun, bringing potential confusion, emotional disillusionment, and escapist tendencies. You may feel misunderstood, disappointed, or overwhelmed by the emotional weight of your responsibilities. Be mindful of how you respond. This is not a great time to overanalyze horoscopes, book a psychic reading, or take dreams as gospel—especially if you’re using substances.

Neptune’s influence can make us idealize or romanticize people and situations that aren’t grounded in reality. This energy can also lead to deception—whether that’s being deceived by others, or deceiving ourselves. Instead of spiraling, channel this into creative expression: write, sing, paint, dance, volunteer, or rest. Choose soul-nourishment over self-destruction.

Moon Sextile Mars: Emotional Courage, Physical Desire

The Moon’s sextile to Mars brings a burst of energy into our emotional world. This can show up as renewed intimacy, rekindled passion in relationships, or even the courage to stand up for something—or someone—you believe in. Mars in Virgo suggests this energy is motivated by service and integrity. It’s protective. It’s heart-forward. This could be an emotional turning point for many.

Saturn & Neptune Square the Moon: Emotional Sobriety Required

These squares may make it feel harder to connect emotionally. You may feel a sense of rejection, shame, or inadequacy—especially in relationships with women or maternal figures. These feelings are valid, but don’t let them control your reactions. This is an invitation to take responsibility for your emotional state. Don’t project your pain onto others. Relationships that aren’t aligned or emotionally safe may reach a breaking point under this energy.

Neptune’s Fog: Pause Before You React

With Neptune so active, our first emotional reaction may not be the most accurate one. Take a breath. Let clarity arrive before you respond. People who prey on vulnerable, emotionally open individuals may be more present now, so stay grounded in your discernment. You don’t need to outsource your power to a guru, a dream, or a headline. Again, the healthiest way to use this energy is through creation, compassion, or sleep.

Mercury Trine Saturn: Clarity and Focus

Mercury forming a trine with Saturn gifts us with clarity, discipline, and a sharp mental focus. This is a great time to make serious decisions, sign contracts, finalize negotiations, or get your financial paperwork in order. You’ll have the patience to work through complex issues without rushing.

Mercury Influenced by Uranus and Pluto: Breakthroughs + Depth

Mercury is also receiving stimulating influence from Uranus and Pluto. Uranus inspires new ideas and unconventional insights—this can be a great time for brainstorming, conversations about spirituality or social change, and connecting with new communities. Pluto adds intensity, making us crave deeper truths and transformative knowledge. But be mindful: this same energy can be used for manipulation, coercion, or mental pressure. Stay aware of how your thoughts are being shaped—by others and by your own unconscious beliefs.

Mars Square Uranus: Rebellion vs. Responsibility

This tense square between Mars and Uranus brings explosive, restless energy. You may feel the urge to break free, rebel, or make impulsive decisions. But with so many other planetary checks in place—especially from Saturn—this can backfire if not channeled properly. Don’t blow up your life over a temporary desire for freedom. Instead, pour this energy into a creative outlet or a movement that matters to you.

Jupiter Square Saturn: Expanding Limits, or Protected Delays?

Jupiter square Saturn often feels like our dreams are being delayed or downsized—but sometimes that’s a gift in disguise. This energy wants you to pause and ask: Am I truly ready for what I’m asking for? Saturn’s influence can slow things down to protect you from making impulsive choices that could unravel what you’ve worked so hard to build. Be patient. Trust divine timing.

Saturn Sextile Uranus: Meaningful, Long-Term Change

Here’s some good news: Saturn and Uranus—co-rulers of Aquarius—are forming a harmonious sextile. This energy supports long-term, meaningful change that feels both grounded and future-forward. You can update old systems in your life without dishonoring your past. This is thoughtful evolution—not rebellion for rebellion’s sake. And it’s a glimpse into what our collective future can look like when we work together with respect, vision, and integrity.

In Closing

This Cancer New Moon is emotionally rich, spiritually revealing, and astrologically significant. It’s a threshold moment—one that asks us to soften, but not collapse. To stay open, but not naive. To dream big, but root those dreams in daily action.

People are waking up. Remembering their worth. Leaving behind toxic relationships and distorted power dynamics. Reimagining what love, leadership, and liberation look like.

If you’re feeling this shift—you’re not alone. You’re right on time.
