On September 21 we have the second of two back-to-back New Moon’s in the sign of Virgo. The New Moon is happening at 12:54 PM and the Moon and Sun will be at 29 degrees.

But this is not an ordinary New Moon. About a month ago on August 22, 2025, the Sun and Moon met at 0°22’ Virgo. It was the first of two New Moons.

Remember a New Moon is a portal for intention-setting—they invite us to plant seeds for what we want to call into our lives. The August Virgo New Moon was especially potent because 0° signals a fresh start, like a baby being born: pure, unconditioned, and full of potential.

Collective Energy During the Virgo New Moon

As with every New Moon, the Sun and Moon together often shines a light on our inner emotional world. We can experience clarity and emotional insight, and this can lead us or inspire us to start something new or explore a part of ourselves in a new way. The Sun will also be conjunct Mercury, our ability to communicate, during the time of the New Moon, allowing us to further think, communicate, and self-express in a new, creative way, but perhaps a way that feels authentic and heartfelt. Almost as if we’ve uncovered a new part of ourselves and we’re able to embrace and accept this creativity more easily.

Saturn will be opposite the Sun, which may add some frustration. The Sun is shedding a light on what we want, the direction we want to move toward, but Saturn and its fatherly energy is asking us to slow down, to really understand what it means to be responsible, to persevere, and to trust our gut, to trust our vision, even when everyone around us is filled with doubt.
