October 2026 Astrology Forecast

October 2026 asks us to look beneath the surface.

This is a month of emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and uncomfortable honesty. We may find ourselves questioning our relationships, our values, our desires, the way we communicate, the way we express ourselves, and even the way we physically present ourselves to the world.

With Venus retrograde beginning October 3 in Scorpio and Mercury retrograde beginning October 24 in Scorpio, October invites us to slow down and reconsider what we may have previously accepted without question. Venus will eventually retrograde back into Libra, bringing our attention from the depths of intimacy, desire, trust, and shared resources back toward relationships, balance, beauty, and the ways we relate to one another.

This isn’t necessarily a month for making immediate decisions.

It is a month for understanding why we want what we want.

Why am I attracted to this person?

Why am I staying in this relationship?

Why do I communicate this way?

Why does this particular situation make me feel threatened?

What am I afraid of losing?

What do I actually value?

Does the life I’m living reflect the person I am becoming?

And perhaps the most important question of October:

What will it actually require of me to create the future I say I want?

The Future Has a Cost

It is relatively easy to imagine a better future.

We can envision healthier relationships, greater equality, deeper community, more authenticity, more freedom, and a world that works better for more people.

But imagining that future and participating in its creation are two very different things.

October may ask us to confront the gap between the world we say we want and the lives we are currently living.

If we want different relationships, we may have to communicate differently.

If we want more equality, we may have to examine where we benefit from systems that are unequal.

If we want greater authenticity, we may have to disappoint people who preferred the version of us that was easier to understand.

If we want deeper intimacy, we may have to become vulnerable.

If we want a more sustainable future, we may have to change some of the ways we consume, spend, work, or live.

And if we want to create a world that works for more people, we may have to acknowledge that some of the changes required will affect us personally.

That realization can be complicated.

Some sacrifices will be relatively easy. Others may ask us to release something we genuinely enjoy. We may have to surrender convenience, familiarity, control, status, security, or a version of ourselves that we have spent years building.

And there may be moments when we don’t like the answer.

October isn’t necessarily asking us to sacrifice everything for some abstract vision of the future. Instead, it asks us to become honest about the cost of our choices.

What are we willing to change?

What are we unwilling to change?

And once we understand the cost, what is still worth choosing?

Emotional Intelligence Becomes a Form of Power

Much of October’s intensity revolves around our ability to experience strong emotions without allowing those emotions to make our decisions for us.

The month begins with Mercury sextile Lilith, followed almost immediately by Mercury square Mars and Mercury square Pluto. Our minds may be compelled to dig beneath the surface, question assumptions, uncover hidden information, and speak truths that have previously remained buried. Communication can be intense, emotional, provocative, and at times combative.

This can be incredibly productive when we are willing to examine ourselves as deeply as we examine everyone else.

Because emotional intelligence isn’t simply knowing what we feel.

It is understanding why we feel it.

It is being able to recognize when fear is disguising itself as anger.

When insecurity is disguising itself as jealousy.

When a need for control is disguising itself as certainty.

When avoidance is disguising itself as independence.

When our desire to be heard has become an inability to listen.

October gives us opportunities to become more conscious of these patterns.

We aren’t being asked to become less passionate. We’re being asked to become more skillful with our passion.

Can we be angry without becoming destructive?

Can we be honest without becoming cruel?

Can we disagree without needing to dominate?

Can we listen when someone tells us something we don’t want to hear?

Can we take up space without taking someone else’s space away?

These questions become especially important as Venus and Mercury move through their retrogrades.

Venus Retrograde: Reconsidering What We Value

Venus retrograde begins October 3 at 8°29′ Scorpio and continues through November 13, eventually carrying Venus back into Libra. Venus governs love, relationships, beauty, art, finances, values, and the things we find pleasurable or meaningful.

In Scorpio, Venus takes us beneath the surface.

We may become more aware of our desires, attachments, insecurities, jealousy, loyalty, intimacy, shared finances, and the power dynamics operating within our relationships.

We may discover that something we thought was about attraction is actually about security.

Something we thought was about love may actually be about fear.

Something we thought we wanted may no longer feel aligned with who we are becoming.

Venus retrograde can also make us question our appearance and self-expression. We may suddenly want to change our hair, clothes, tattoos, piercings, home, aesthetic, or other aspects of how we present ourselves.

Give yourself time.

The retrograde period can reveal important information about what no longer feels authentic, but that doesn’t necessarily mean we need to make permanent changes immediately. Venus is still reviewing the information.

The goal isn’t to reject who you are.

It is to discover whether the way you express yourself still feels like you.

As Venus eventually moves back into Libra, the focus shifts from the intensity of desire toward the balance and sustainability of our relationships. We’re asked to consider not only who we love, but whether the relationships we are building allow everyone involved to be fully themselves.

The Libra New Moon: Seeing What Needs to Change

The Libra New Moon arrives October 10 at 17°21′.

Because Venus—the ruler of Libra—is retrograde in Scorpio at the time of the New Moon, this isn’t necessarily a lighthearted reset around relationships and harmony.

There is depth beneath this New Moon.

We may recognize something we have been avoiding.

We may become aware of an imbalance.

We may realize that a relationship dynamic, personal value, social expectation, or aspect of our identity can no longer remain exactly as it is.

There may be vulnerability, jealousy, insecurity, control dynamics, and emotional intensity—but there is also tremendous passion, creativity, and intuitive awareness.

Something is becoming impossible to ignore.

And we may begin to understand what collective change we want to see—and what it could actually take from us to participate in creating it.

This can be a moment of reckoning.

Not necessarily because something is wrong, but because something is changing.

And when something changes, we have to change with it.

Pluto Direct: Our Personal Choices Have Collective Consequences

On October 15, Pluto stations direct at 3°04′ Aquarius after months of retrograde motion.

Pluto retrograde in Aquarius has asked us to reconsider power, control, and collective responsibility. As Pluto turns direct, some of the realizations we’ve been processing internally may begin to move outward into our lives.

This reinforces the larger question of October:

What kind of future are we helping create?

Our individual lives don’t exist separately from the collective.

Our relationships influence our families.

Our families influence our communities.

Our choices influence the people around us.

Our values influence what we support, purchase, create, tolerate, and normalize.

The future isn’t created only through dramatic collective moments. It is built through thousands of individual decisions about how we live our everyday lives.

October asks us to become more conscious participants in that process.

The Taurus Full Moon: What Is Worth Keeping?

Then, on October 25, the Taurus Full Moon at 2°45′ brings the month full circle.

And there is an important detail here: the Taurus Full Moon is also ruled by Venus.

By this point, Venus has retrograded out of Scorpio and back into Libra. So the same planet that ruled the Libra New Moon earlier in the month is also ruling the Taurus Full Moon at the end of the month.

This creates a powerful Venus-ruled storyline throughout October.

The New Moon asks:

What needs to change?

The Full Moon asks:

Now that I see it more clearly, what is worth keeping?

Taurus brings these questions down into the physical world.

What does this transformation mean for my body?

My home?

My money?

My relationships?

My time?

My resources?

My sense of safety?

What am I actually willing to live differently?

The Taurus Full Moon may bring clarity around an emotional transformation already underway, particularly within our relationships. We may recognize that something has changed—not necessarily because we stopped caring, but because our understanding of what we need, what we value, and what makes a relationship sustainable has evolved.

This is where October’s larger theme comes full circle.

Transformation isn’t only about letting go.

It is also about becoming discerning enough to know what deserves to come with us.

Becoming the Person Who Can Live in the Future We Want

By the end of October, Mercury will also be retrograde in Scorpio, asking us to revisit conversations, memories, beliefs, relationships, and information that require deeper understanding. Mercury in Scorpio wants to penetrate the truth, and its retrograde motion gives us an opportunity to reconsider how we communicate and how we make sense of our experiences.

We may not have every answer yet.

We don’t need to.

Sometimes clarity begins simply by becoming willing to look at what we previously avoided.

October isn’t asking us to become completely different people.

It is asking us to become honest enough to recognize where the person we are today may no longer be compatible with the future we are trying to build.

That can be uncomfortable.

It can require sacrifice.

It can require grief.

It can require humility.

But it can also be incredibly liberating.

Because once we understand what needs to change, we are no longer powerless.

We can make different choices.

We can communicate differently.

We can love differently.

We can create differently.

We can participate differently.

And we can begin building the future—not simply by demanding that the world around us change, but by becoming willing to change the parts of ourselves that are standing between us and that future.

October asks us to stop looking only at what we want to change around us and become brave enough to ask:

What am I willing to change within myself?

And perhaps even more importantly:

What future is worth changing for?

October begins with Mercury sextile Lilith, creating an atmosphere where we may feel more comfortable exploring ideas, conversations, and subjects that are normally considered taboo, mysterious, or difficult to discuss.

Our minds are open to psychological insight, research, shadow work, and perspectives that challenge what we’ve previously accepted as truth. We may feel compelled to uncover something that has been buried or to finally articulate a truth we’ve kept quiet because we feared being misunderstood.

We may have strong opinions and feel compelled to express them. Conversations can become dramatic or heated, particularly when we feel challenged or misunderstood.

This energy can be productive when we use it to speak courageously and advocate for ourselves, but we may need to be mindful of reacting before we’ve fully processed what we’re feeling.

Themes: Strong opinions, assertiveness, heated conversations, courage, mental restlessness.

October 2 — Mercury Square Pluto

Mercury square Pluto intensifies our desire to uncover the truth.

We may feel that we’re missing part of the story and become determined to find out what’s really happening beneath the surface. Conversations can become emotionally intense or combative, but this aspect can also expose deeply ingrained beliefs and hidden truths.

The invitation is to investigate without becoming consumed by the need to control the outcome.

October 2 — Mars Trine Neptune

Mars trine Neptune softens the intensity of the day’s mental energy by connecting our actions with empathy, creativity, spirituality, and a deeper sense of purpose.

Themes: Purpose, intuition, creativity, empathy, spirituality, inspired action.

October 3 — Venus Retrograde Begins in Scorpio

Venus stations retrograde at 8°29′ Scorpio, beginning a retrograde period that lasts until November 13, 2026.

Venus rules love, relationships, beauty, art, finances, values, and the things we find pleasurable or meaningful. When Venus turns retrograde, we are often encouraged to reconsider these areas of life rather than moving forward automatically.

In Scorpio, Venus takes us deeper.

We may question our attraction, loyalty, intimacy, shared finances, relationship dynamics, and desires. We may uncover feelings or information that change how we understand a relationship.

Venus in Scorpio wants depth, but depth also requires honesty.

This can be a powerful period for understanding what we truly want—and what we may have been tolerating, avoiding, or idealizing.

Themes: Love, intimacy, trust, loyalty, shared finances, desire, vulnerability, relationship transformation.

Venus retrograde: October 3–November 13, 2026.

October 3 — Mars Opposite Pluto

Mars opposite Pluto brings us into a deeper relationship with personal power.

Themes: Power, control, surrender, transformation, personal strength.

October 4 — Sun Opposite Saturn

October 8 — Neptune Square Lilith

Neptune square Lilith challenges old ideas about what makes us worthy, safe, or acceptable.

October 10 — New Moon in Libra at 17°21′

The Libra New Moon invites a new beginning around relationships, balance, harmony, and the way we relate to one another.

However, because Venus—the ruler of this New Moon—is retrograde in Scorpio, this isn’t necessarily a simple or superficial reset.

We may be confronting jealousy, vulnerability, insecurity, control dynamics, or uncomfortable truths within our relationships. At the same time, there is tremendous creative and emotional depth available.

Something may become impossible to ignore.

We may begin to understand what needs to change—and what that change could require from us personally.

October 15 — Sun Sextile Jupiter

October 18 — Venus Sextile Lilith

Venus sextile Lilith invites us to reconsider the parts of ourselves we have been taught to suppress.

As Venus moves through the depths of Scorpio, we may recognize truths and secrets—including those connected to the ways women and marginalized voices have historically been encouraged to play small, remain quiet, or doubt themselves.

There can be a powerful sense of permission to take up space, speak honestly, and embrace the parts of ourselves that society once told us were too much.

Themes: Feminine power, authenticity, self-worth, sexuality, confidence, taking up space.

October 19 — Sun Trine North Node

Sun trine the North Node can give us a stronger sense of who we are and what we stand for.

That confidence can create opportunities to make a meaningful contribution—or challenge something that matters.

The opportunity may be significant, but we could miss it if we become too comfortable or avoid the challenges that would help us grow.

Themes: Purpose, confidence, growth, courage, meaningful contribution.

October 19 — Venus Square Pluto

Venus square Pluto intensifies our emotional experiences.

Relationships, desires, values, and attachments may feel particularly powerful. We can experience emotional highs and lows or become intensely inspired by something only to discover that our feelings change just as quickly.

This aspect asks us to develop greater emotional steadiness and self-awareness rather than allowing intensity alone to determine what we choose.

Themes: Intensity, passion, relationships, emotional transformation, attachment, self-awareness.

October 21 — Sun Opposite Chiron

Sun opposite Chiron can bring attention to wounds around confidence, worthiness, identity, and our sense of significance.

But this aspect also reminds us that our existence matters.

There are people whose lives are better because we are in them. Someone is grateful for us. Someone smiles when they see us. Someone feels safer, happier, or more loved because we exist.

Our worth does not have to be proven through achievement.

Themes: Self-worth, healing, identity, confidence, belonging, significance.

October 23 — Sun Enters Scorpio

Something from the past may suddenly make more sense.

We may realize that the way we communicated about something—or the way we understood it—needs to change.

This is powerful energy for reflection, research, therapy, journaling, and inner work.

Themes: Reflection, communication, research, memories, relationships, truth, psychological insight.

Mercury retrograde: October 24–November 13, 2026.

October 25 — Venus Retrograde Re-enters Libra

Venus retrogrades out of Scorpio and returns to Libra.

After diving into the deeper layers of intimacy, desire, trust, insecurity, and attachment, Venus brings those discoveries back into the realm of relationships and balance.

We may now be asking whether our relationships actually reflect mutual respect, reciprocity, harmony, and equality.

Venus in Libra reminds us that love is not only about passion. It is also about how we treat one another.

Themes: Relationships, balance, reciprocity, harmony, diplomacy, love.

October 25 — Full Moon in Taurus at 2°45′

The Taurus Full Moon brings emotional clarity around security, values, relationships, resources, and what we need to feel grounded.

This is an emotionally transformative Full Moon. We may be in the middle of a transformation already, particularly within our relationships, or we may finally gain the clarity necessary to recognize that a transformation is needed.

Importantly, Taurus is ruled by Venus—and Venus is still retrograde.

This means the Venus story that began with the Libra New Moon continues here.

The New Moon asked us what needs to change.

The Taurus Full Moon asks us what is actually worth keeping.

We may begin to understand the tangible cost of the changes we’ve been considering. What does this transformation mean for our relationships, our money, our homes, our bodies, our time, our resources, and our sense of safety?

This Full Moon invites us to distinguish between what we are afraid to lose and what we genuinely value.

Themes: Security, values, relationships, money, self-worth, emotional transformation, stability, letting go, discernment.

October 26 — Sun Square Pluto

Sun square Pluto brings powerful internal drive but can also expose our relationship with control.

We may feel a strong need to assert our will, opinions, or beliefs. If we’re not conscious of our motivations, this can create unnecessary conflict or cause us to unconsciously attempt to influence or control others.

The invitation is deeper self-awareness.

Strength doesn’t require domination.

Themes: Power, control, self-awareness, transformation, personal authority.

October 27 — Sun Sextile Lilith

Sun sextile Lilith encourages us to reclaim parts of ourselves we once rejected.

Desires, instincts, truths, wounds, or identities that were previously considered too taboo, strange, emotional, or unacceptable may become sources of confidence rather than shame.

We may feel more comfortable putting these parts of ourselves back on display.

Themes: Authenticity, confidence, shadow integration, self-expression, liberation.

October 28 — Venus Opposite Chiron

Venus opposite Chiron can bring relationship wounds and self-worth issues to the surface.

We may recognize that if we continually make ourselves smaller in relationships—if we don’t speak our truth, express our desires, or allow ourselves to take up space—we may be sacrificing intimacy in the process.

Healthy relationships require two whole people.

We deserve relationships where we can exist fully.

Themes: Self-worth, relationships, vulnerability, healing, boundaries, authenticity.

October 30 — Mercury Square Mars

Mercury square Mars closes the month with strong opinions, mental restlessness, and assertive communication.

We may feel courageous enough to finally say what we’ve been thinking, but courage and listening must exist together.

If we want our relationships to evolve, we cannot only become better at expressing ourselves. We also have to become better at hearing one another.

Themes: Communication, assertiveness, strong opinions, courage, listening, relationship growth.
