Learning to Hold More Than One Truth

November invites us into the gray.
Not everything is black and white. Not every conflict has a villain. Not every disagreement means someone is wrong. And not every truth cancels out another truth.
This month asks us to become more comfortable with the complexity of being human—to recognize that multiple things can be true at the same time.
You can love someone and still disagree with them.
You can understand another person’s perspective without abandoning your own.
You can honor what you need while recognizing that someone else has needs, too.
You can change your mind without making your previous self wrong.
And perhaps most importantly, you can discover that there may be another option beyond choosing between your way and their way.
November’s astrology repeatedly brings us into this tension between the individual and the collective. We are being asked to speak honestly about what we want, what we believe, and what we need—but we’re also being asked to consider how our choices affect the people around us.
This isn’t always comfortable.
Sometimes being honest will ruffle feathers. Sometimes acknowledging what we actually want forces us to confront the possibility that someone else wants something entirely different. And when our needs don’t align, old wounds around rejection, shame, worthiness, belonging, and being “too much” can rise to the surface.
But November offers us an opportunity to look at these experiences through a new lens.
What if disagreement isn’t rejection?
What if someone else’s needs don’t make ours less valid?
What if honoring ourselves doesn’t require us to stop caring about others?
And what if there is a third option we haven’t considered yet?
The beginning of the month encourages exactly this kind of relational intelligence. Venus in Libra makes supportive connections to the North Node and Jupiter, emphasizing compassion, diplomacy, honest communication, and the desire to find solutions that work for more than just ourselves. We may feel a stronger willingness to speak our truth—not simply to be heard or validated, but because we recognize that honesty is necessary if we’re going to create something sustainable for everyone involved.
At the same time, the Scorpio energy of November asks us to go deeper.
The Scorpio New Moon on November 8 can illuminate the places where we’ve been afraid to look—our desires, fears, secrets, attachments, taboos, and the parts of ourselves we’ve kept hidden because we weren’t sure they would be accepted. The invitation isn’t to judge what we find. It’s to become honest enough with ourselves that we can finally begin transforming it.
This becomes especially important as Mercury and Venus station direct on November 13.
Both planets have been moving through a period of reconsideration. Mercury retrograde in Scorpio has asked us to revisit conversations, memories, relationships, research, and beliefs, while Venus retrograde has brought deeper questions around love, intimacy, trust, loyalty, finances, desire, and what we truly value.
When they turn direct, we may finally begin to understand something that wasn’t clear before.
But clarity doesn’t necessarily mean everything becomes simple.
Sometimes clarity is realizing why you feel the way you feel.
Sometimes it is recognizing what you’ve been tolerating.
Sometimes it is discovering that the story you told yourself about a person, relationship, goal, or situation was incomplete.
And sometimes clarity is simply realizing:
“I know what I need now.”
That realization can be liberating—but it can also be disruptive.
Because once we know what we need, we have to decide what we’re going to do with that knowledge.
Mid-month carries a tremendous amount of fire. Mars conjuncts Jupiter in Leo on November 15, bringing enthusiasm, courage, ambition, and a powerful desire to create and lead. But the surrounding aspects remind us that confidence can easily tip into defensiveness, frustration, impulsivity, or the need to prove ourselves.
This is another place where November asks us to examine the difference between authentic self-expression and the need for external validation.
Are we pursuing something because it genuinely matters to us?
Or because we need someone else to recognize that we matter?
Are we trying to lead because we have something meaningful to contribute?
Or because we are trying to prove that we’re worthy?
The Mars-Chiron connection on November 19 offers another perspective: we can begin validating our own worth instead of building our sense of self around recognition from the outside world.
Then, on November 21, the Sun enters Sagittarius.
The atmosphere begins to lift.
After weeks of Scorpio asking us to look beneath the surface, Sagittarius reminds us to look toward the horizon.
There is still a future.
There is still something to believe in.
There are still possibilities we haven’t considered.
Sagittarius brings optimism, curiosity, humor, honesty, movement, and faith. And with the Sun trining Neptune shortly after entering Sagittarius, our imagination and spiritual awareness can remind us that we’re part of something larger than ourselves.
But perhaps the most important culmination of November arrives with the Gemini Full Moon on November 24.
Gemini is the sign of multiple perspectives, multiple pieces of information, multiple ways of understanding the same experience.
And this Full Moon highlights the tension between what we need and what others need.
What we expect versus what we receive.
Our authentic desires versus the expectations placed upon us.
Our individuality versus our relationships.
The answer isn’t necessarily to choose one side.
The invitation is to integrate them.
To remain uniquely ourselves while still learning how to be kind, respectful, adaptable, and emotionally intelligent in our relationships.
This is the deeper lesson of November:
We don’t have to erase ourselves to make room for someone else.
And we don’t have to erase someone else to make room for ourselves.
There is a difference between compromise and self-abandonment.
There is a difference between boundaries and walls.
There is a difference between understanding someone’s perspective and agreeing with them.
And sometimes the most powerful solution is the one we couldn’t see when we were convinced there were only two choices.
As November closes, the astrology becomes increasingly focused on transformation that extends beyond the individual. Uranus trines Pluto on November 29, bringing a sense that change is not only necessary but possible—and that improving our own lives can be connected to improving the world around us. The Sun’s trine to Saturn reminds us that meaningful change requires patience, integrity, responsibility, and solid foundations.
We aren’t being asked to have everything figured out.
We’re being asked to become more capable of holding complexity.
To listen.
To question.
To reconsider.
To speak honestly.
To recognize our own needs.
To make room for the needs and perspectives of others.
And then, from that wider perspective, to ask a better question:
What can we create from here?
November reminds us that the future doesn’t have to be built around one person winning and another person losing.
There may be a way forward that honors more than one truth.
There may be a third option.
And perhaps the real growth this month is learning to stay open long enough to find it.
