There’s something sacred about birthdays. For me, they’re not just celebrations — they’re portals.
One of the first portals we enter is our birth portal. Words cast spells, that’s why it’s called spelling after all. And one of the most powerful spells we cast is our birthday — the day our soul touched down on Earth.
It’s our born on Earth day — bEarthday
Each year, that sacred day returns. We celebrate it as a birthday, but in the language of astrology, it’s known as a Solar Return — a cosmic anniversary of the Sun returning to the exact degree it occupied the moment we were born.
It’s more than a celebration; it’s a portal. A time to reflect, reset, and reconnect with the energetic blueprint unfolding for the year ahead.
One of my favorite ways to tune into this energy is through a blend of Solar Return astrology and annual profections — a traditional timing technique that reveals the ruling house and planetary themes of the coming year.
Each year on my solar return, I create a quiet moment to connect with the astrology of the year ahead. I pull my Solar Return chart and check in with my annual profection year — two tools that help me sense what kind of space I’m stepping into.
As I approach my 35th birthday on April 26, I’m stepping into a 12th house profection year. In my chart, the 12th house is ruled by Capricorn, which means Saturn becomes the timekeeper of my year. Saturn is also the ruler of my first house, Aquarius — so this year, the link between my identity and my inner world is deeply highlighted.
The 12th house invites introspection, solitude, and spiritual surrender. With Capricorn here, this isn’t a year of drifting inward — it’s a year of structuring my inner life. Of meeting the subconscious with maturity. Of honoring rest not as escape, but as a responsibility to self. With Saturn touching both the 12th and the 1st through rulership, there’s a weight and wisdom to the year that asks me to honor both who I’ve been and who I’m becoming.
And while my Sun in Taurus remains the same, the Moon and personal planets in my Solar Return can shift. These moving parts bring fresh flavors — emotional nuances, shifting desires, evolving communication styles — all inviting me to meet the world in new ways.
As a 5/1 Emotional Projector, I am unable to rush this process. I must feel into it and wait for clarity to rise.
Astrology helps me align with divine timing, and when I move in sync with the cosmic current, I experience more flow, ease, and soul-deep alignment.
Discovering Your Own Profection Year
If you’re feeling curious about what your own astrological year might hold, one of the simplest — yet most powerful — places to start is with your annual profection year.
Profections are an ancient timing technique in astrology that move you through the houses of your birth chart, one per year, starting at the Ascendant. Each age corresponds to a house, and that house — along with its ruling planet — gives you insight into the core themes and focus of the year.
Here’s a quick way to find yours:
- At age 1, you’re in a 1st house year
- At age 2, you move into a 2nd house year
- At age 3, it’s the 3rd house… and so on
- Once you hit age 12, the cycle starts again at the 1st house
So for example:
- Age 24 = 1st house year
- Age 25 = 2nd house year
- Age 26 = 3rd house year
- And so on…
Once you know which house you’re in, look at what sign rules that house in your natal chart, and then find the planet that rules that sign — that’s your Time Lord (the planetary guide for your year).

I don’t offer this work to just anyone — but if you feel drawn, if your body lights up and something in your spirit whispers yes — that’s your invitation to reach out.
I’d be honored to walk with you through your own Solar Return portal.
I’m sharing this because I know how empowering it can be to see your year through this lens. And while I don’t offer this work to just anyone, I do respond to aligned invitations — especially from those who feel genuinely drawn to go deeper.
If this speaks to you, and your body says yes — that’s your invitation to reach out.
