Leo Full Moon | Feb. 5, 2023

Leo Full Moon | 16°40′
Sunday, February 5, 2023 | 10:28 AM Pacific

I am a western tropical astrologer, all of my updates will follow that astrological format. I use the sacred interpretation method meaning your astrological forecast will always be described in the sense that challenges are opportunities, not a form of punishment. And that you have free will, meaning nothing is set in stone, I use astrological forecasts to help give you permission to listen to your intuition and live your best life as your true authentic self.

I use the whole house sign system, meaning your rising sign rules the entirety of your first house and every person has all 12 zodiac energies within them. I use the archetypal energies of the planets, the zodiacs, and history to create something similar to a weather forecast so that you can make plans and validate your emotions based on the kind of energy you are swimming in at this time.

Of course, I can only give generic forecasts without looking at your unique individual chart. If you want a more personalized energy forecast or reading, I offer personalized astrological reports like a PDF, this is the most affordable option available on the elevated aura website, and I have one-on-one virtual readings as well, which you can schedule on the elevated aura website.

Alright let’s get into the Leo Full Moon happening on February 5, 2023 at 10:28 AM Pacific Time. During the Full Moon, the Moon will be at 16 degrees, 40 minutes of Leo. The sun will be opposite the moon, as it is during every full moon, sitting at 16 degrees, 40 minutes of Aquarius.

If you look at the degree at which this full moon is happening, it’s at 16 degrees. We ended 2022, or I should say, the final four full moons of 2022 all occurred at 16 degrees, and the first three Full Moons of 2023 will also occur at 16 degrees. So in total we’re experiencing 7 full moons in a row all at 16 degrees. This Leo Full Moon is the fifth of the seven full moons all happening at 16 degrees.

So this tells me right off the bat that there is something important happening at the 16th degree. The 16th degree is ruled by Cancer, Cancer is ruled by the Moon. So I have a feeling this is going to be another Full Moon that kicks off an emotional period of time. Whenever we have a full moon it can be an emotional period of time – three days before, three days after, because the emotions and feelings of the moon, a sign ruled by watery Cancer, is opposite the Sun, which is ruled by Leo and is related to our ego, our sense of individuality. So there can be a conflict, especially in close relationships at this time.

And when we have a Full Moon in Leo, with the Sun in Aquarius, we can sometimes encounter a conflict between doing what is best for us, what we want to do, and what someone else expects of us or wants us to do. This can be a romantic connection, a parent-child relationship, a business relationship like business partners clashing over something, it could be a boss and an employee.

All in all looking at the chart I think this is going to be a more challenging full moon, especially for those with sun, moon, or risings that are fixed signs – Leo, Aquarius, Taurus, and Scorpio, more than others, especially if you have any planets in fixed signs around 16 degrees. But as I’ve said before challenges are not always a bad thing. Sometimes we encounter a challenge in life and we grow, we learn so much about ourselves that we elevate to a whole new level of love and appreciation for ourselves, those around us, the world we get to experience.

Before we dive deeper into the chart for the Leo Full Moon, let’s talk about Leo energy.

Leos are the Spark of the zodiac, they are the light, the heart-led leaders of the zodiac. Represented by the lion and ruled by the sun, Leos are fiery passionate individuals who love to party and have a good time, they enjoy being around other people and love to celebrate life and just how awesome it is to be alive, but Leos are also likely to express themselves in dramatic, creative and assertive ways.

Leo is the natural ruler of the Fifth House, the fifth house is all about creativity, self-expression, children, romance, and affection.

As a fire sign, Leos have a lot of energy and passion, they are initiators, they bring people together by creating, having fun, enjoying themselves. They are natural leaders who do possess a lot of integrity and determination. But Leos also can be a little self-indulgent, come off a little cocky, that’s just how confident they are in themselves. Leos can be quite determined and usually get their way when they really want to because they don’t mind being dramatic or the center of attention.

Leo energy is very proud or prideful in all they do. So a challenge for anyone with strong Leo placements, if you are a Leo sun, moon or Leo rising, is to temper any tendency for arrogant or egotistical behavior and to instead develop humility and compassion; to learn from it’s zodiac opposite, Aquarius and share their abundant energy freely and enhance the life experience of others around them.

So with Leo being very linked to the heart, the moon being connected to our inner world, our emotions, I think this energy is inviting us to stay in love, to stay in our heart space no matter what challenges we experience. To find gratitude, the silver lining in all of it.

The heart is an incredibly powerful organ. Did you know the electromagnetic field of the heart is 5000 times stronger than that of the brain? And the heart contains something like 40,000 brain neurons, so in a way, our heart is our big brain and our brain is our little brain. Our heart is where we have an emotional – love-based intelligence rather than just a rational intelligence. So it’s not a bad idea to spend some time breathing in and out of your heart space around this full moon, connecting to your heart with a heart hold while meditating or doing breathwork.

Although Leo is a fire sign, it’s opposite on the zodiac, Aquarius is an air sign, the most dominant element at play during this Full Moon will actually be Earth.

Also, all planets are now direct, and all planets will remain direct until April 21, 2023, so use this energy to get clarity on what you want moving forward and start taking action steps.

At the time of the Leo Full Moon:

  • The Moon is in Leo
  • The Sun is in Aquarius
  • Saturn is in Aquarius
  • Mercury is in Capricorn
  • Pluto is in Capricorn
  • Venus is in Pisces
  • Neptune is in Pisces
  • Jupiter is in Aries
  • Uranus is in Taurus
  • Mars is in Gemini

The moon will be opposite the sun and Saturn which are both in Aquarius. The sun remember is our ego, Saturn is that fatherly energy, it’s karma, it’s old rules and regulations, and when the sun and saturn are opposite the moon, our internal, emotional world, we can experience difficulty in relationships, so much so that we feel depressed, sad, bored or lonely. It’s not just that we’re afraid to share what we’re feeling, it’s that the heart-energy of Leo may convince us to share our emotions, but they may not be received well, or at least not in the way we hoped.

The moon is also forming a square with Uranus in Taurus, which can indicate almost like mood swings – big emotional highs, big emotional lows. It could also mean because Uranus is the planet of quantum leaps and changes, it doesn’t care what the status quo is, it’s possible there could be emotional clashes that lead to heartbreaking decisions, like the end of relationships.

  • Jupiter is in Aries at the time of the Leo Full Moon

Jupiter in Aries is all about independence, doing things yourself, not relying on others.

How many times have you found yourself in a situation where you were like fuck I don’t know how to assemble this desk chair or fix this leaky faucet or make this dish or do this task? And how many times have you just blown yourself away in amazement by finishing, completing the thing that you originally didn’t know how to do?

We often have so many internal strengths and abilities we know nothing about until we are forced to explore that internal resource. And that’s what this energy is inviting us to do on a collective scale. To explore, dig deep, to keep going in the face of adversity and really learn our true power.

Jupiter in Aries is forming a trine, a harmonious aspect to the Moon in Leo. So whatever our emotional world, our heart is experiencing, Jupiter the great benefic is bringing ease and flow to that area of our life. This I love because it’s a sign to me that regardless of the chaos we may experience around this Leo Full Moon, we know at the end of the day we have our own back. It’s a self-love super power energy.

Jupiter in Aries is also forming a sextile with Mars in Gemini, and I love this. This energy is further giving you a boost of confidence, strength, courage, honesty and generosity, especially when you’re trying to get things done. It may feel as if you are connected to your intuition in a way you’ve never felt before.

Mars in Gemini is forming a trine to the Sun in Aquarius – so Mars is actually forming harmonious aspects with both the sun and the moon. But when Mars is forming a trine with the sun, there’s a level of creativity here, as well as strength, to assert yourself, to share what needs and desires you have. There’s a level of confidence here that you’re ready to go after what you want and you’re not afraid of rolling up your sleeves and getting the work done to manifest those dreams and desires into reality.

But like I said, this is a complicated Full Moon filled with a lot of conflict. So while Mars is giving us this confidence, this energy to be assertive, to get shit done, it’s also forming a square with Venus in Pisces, which is a recipe for a moody, difficult time in relationships, particularly romantic relationships. If you’re not currently in a relationship, you may find this period of time to be really difficult to find someone you’re interested in pursuing. You may feel like no one will ever fulfill your idea of an ideal partnership, or you may find that you have a difficult time committing to just one person, perhaps you find that you’re interested in dating different people.

If you are in a committed relationship, this square between Mars and Venus could bring conflict into your relationship. You may find yourself arguing or bickering more than usual. You could be easily irritated, your partner may be easily irritated. So speaking as someone who has Venus in Pisces natally, this is likely going to be a time when it’s better to think before you speak – is what you’re saying true? Is it helpful? Does it need to be said or is that your ego trying to win?

As I mentioned Uranus is in Taurus, squaring both the sun and the moon. We already talked about Uranus squaring the moon and how it could possibly bring an end, a sudden end to relationships of some kind. But adding to that tension is the square between uranus and the sun. This aspect essentially gives us a big ego boost and we become almost rebellious in believing what others should be doing and what needs to be done, and our view of ourselves can also be a bit distorted – we may truly believe there is no way but our way.

Luckily Venus is forming a sextile with Uranus, which brings a sense of spontaneity and creativity to our relationships, not just romantically, but our friendship circle, and our ability to be artistic or creative may also get a boost from this aspect. It’s an energy that invites us to open up to new attitudes, new ways of relating, being, and experiencing love and romance.

And then we have Neptune forming a sextile with Pluto, giving our spiritual side and intuition a boost. A word of caution though: Venus is in Pisces, where she is exalted, meaning she is most powerful here, free to celebrate and live in this dreamy, romantic world. Neptune is also in Pisces, it’s home sign, but there can be illusion with this water sign. Things may not necessarily be how they appear- you’ve heard of wearing rose-colored glasses? So this energy is saying you’re likely to be more observant than usual at the time of this Leo Full Moon, trust your intuition, but look for hard facts, evidence because things may not be exactly as they appear.

How will this Leo Full Moon impact you personally?

Look and find which house does Leo rule for you? That’s going to give you the best indication as to which area of your life is most likely to experience changes at this time.

Also consider: What was going on in your life on or around July 28, 2022 – three days before and after? That is when we had the New Moon in Leo. Where was your focus? How were things going in your relationships? How were you connected to your heart?

Remember even if the seeds you planted at the Leo New Moon don’t completely manifest at this time, you may start to see the sprouts of those dreams coming true.

If you are a sun, moon or rising, Leo, Aquarius, Taurus or Scorpio, especially if you have planets or aspects around 16 degrees of fixed signs you are likely to feel the effects of this Full Moon the most.

Whatever happens externally at this time, know that you are safe. You are loved. You are divinely guided and supported and I love you.
