I am a western tropical astrologer, all of my updates will follow that astrological format. I use the sacred interpretation method meaning your astrological forecast will always be described in the sense that challenges are opportunities, not a form of punishment. And that you have free will, meaning nothing is set in stone, I use astrological forecasts to help give you permission to listen to your intuition and live your best life as your true authentic self.
I use the whole house sign system, meaning your rising sign rules the entirety of your first house and every person has all 12 zodiac energies within them. I use the archetypal energies of the planets, the zodiacs, and history to create something similar to a weather forecast so that you can make plans and validate your emotions based on the kind of energy you are swimming in at this time.
Of course, I can only give generic forecasts without looking at your unique individual chart. If you want a more personalized energy forecast or reading, I offer personalized astrological reports like a PDF, this is the most affordable option available on the elevated aura website, and I have one-on-one virtual readings as well, which you can schedule on the elevated aura website.
Without further ado, let’s get into the Pisces Super New Moon, happening on February 19 or 20, 2023, depending on where you are in the world. The New Moon will occur at 11:05 PM Pacific time on February 19, 2023, the moon will be at 1 degree, 21 minutes of Pisces. This is actually the fifth of five New Moons in a row all happening at 1 degree.
1 degree is ruled by Aries, it’s also a very early degree, which tells us that this is a new energy, we are kicking off something new, we’re most likely building off of the new beginnings from the previous New Moons at 1 degree. And even more powerful, this is the final New Moon of 5 New Moons in a row all happening at 1 degree.
It began with the Solar Eclipse New Moon in Scorpio which was at 1 degree, then we had the New Moon in Sagittarius at 1 degree, the New Moon in Capricorn, the Super New Moon in Aquarius and now we have the Super New Moon in Pisces at 1 degree.
Given how powerful these energies seem to be for new beginnings, I wanted to flag this for you so that you understand just how fresh and malleable this energy can be. And if you are someone who likes to take time during a new moon and really be intentional about where you are focusing your time and energy, then this energy around the Pisces New Moon is something to use to our advantage and really co-create our reality with the universe.
What I find so poetic about New Moons at these early degrees like 1 degree is that Aries is the leader of the zodiac, Aries season represents the astrological new year; so although Aries has this tough reputation, this association with being a warrior, it’s also the energy of going out in the dark, of finding something new, forging a new path.
During the time of the Pisces New Moon, all planets are direct and will remain direct – until April 21, 2023, then we’re going to have at least one planet retrograde through the end of the year; and to be honest with you, when I look ahead at late summer/ fall, we’re going to experience something like 6 retrograde planets simultaneously; we’ll talk about that more as it gets closer, but what I wanted to flag for you now with this energy is to take advantage of it while it’s moving direct.
Another thing, I know we’re talking about Pisces season, but I do want to flag for you that Aries season is right around the corner and it’s going to be big. We’re actually going to have two Aries New Moon’s back-to-back and one of those is a Solar Eclipse. So yes, we’re gearing up for a switch in which signs are on the eclipse axis, we’re moving away from Taurus and Scorpio, to the Aries Libra axis. We also have Saturn moving into Pisces and Pluto making its way into Aquarius. So a lot of big changes are on the horizon.
Pisces Super New Moon
During the time of the Pisces Super New Moon, the sun and the moon will both be at 1 degree of Pisces. And looking at the chart I would say overall, this Super New Moon looks to be one that is less challenging, really allowing us to tap into the plethora of possibilities of dreams we hold in our hearts. To tap into romance, compassion, our intuition, and really co-create with the universe and discover our soul family.
This dreamy romantic vibe really seems appropriate given that Pisces is the dreamer of the zodiac.
All About Pisces
Pisces is a mutable water sign, a feminine yin energy, and the natural ruler of the 12th house of spirituality. So it’s a very ethereal, loving, magical, artistic, dreamy energy.
When empowered, Pisces energy is incredibly creative and artistic. People who have strong PIsces energy tend to dress colorfully, they love to live in this fairytale-like state of mind where magic and dreams and fairies all exist. And because I have my Venus in Pisces I have that Piscean hopeless romantic energy in my DNA. So it makes sense that I do believe in fairies and mermaids and magic and I LOVE to talk about dreams and analyze different dreams I’ve had as well as the dreams of my friends, family and even colleagues.
Pisces is a water sign, like Cancer and Scorpio, but unlike Cancer and Scorpio who try to keep a calm outer appearance and let their emotions flow underneath more privately, Pisces energy is not afraid to display feelings. So Pisces sometimes gets made fun of as being a cry baby in a sense because Pisces energy is not afraid to show emotions. But Pisces can be mistaken or led astray, let’s say, by rose colored glasses; for believing that things are good and pure even when they are not.
The shadow side of Pisces energy is very addictive and unstable. And like I said, it’s that energy that keeps you stuck in an addiction even when you know it’s bad for you; that’s the shadow side of Pisces.
And it makes sense because Pisces is ruled by Jupiter and Neptune that addictions would be a shadow effect here, because both planets are expansive. Jupiter is a lucky planet that expands luck or positive rewards in an area of our life. And Neptune similarly expands things, earlier this year, Neptune’s transiting position was actually triggering inflation related to currency. For me, that was just another check mark in the column of reasons to pay attention to astrology.
Pisces has two ruling planets in a sense because Neptune rules PIsces and Jupiter is the old ruler of Pisces
Neptune is linked to lies, deceit, things not appearing as they seem. Jupiter can expand the lie, it can ignore boundaries but it can also expose and reveal deceits, especially those that caused illusions and delusions. Neptune is also connected to pharmaceutical drugs and toxicity, pollution.
Jupiter on the other hand is very future oriented – all about big dreams. Dreaming bigger than you’ve ever dreamed before.
Planets & Aspects Highlighted During the Pisces Super New Moon
During the time of the Pisces Super New Moon the sun and moon are both at 1 degree of Pisces.
Remember with any New Moon, the sun and moon will be conjunct, essentially they are located right on top of one another, and that’s why the new moon is a dark moon. When we have a Super New Moon, it means that the Moon is as close to Earth as it possibly can be. And this means that the tides will be stronger, waves bigger, so we can experience flooding and other water issues at this time.
Although the sun and moon are both in Pisces, that doesn’t mean they express the same way or enjoy each sign in the same way.
The moon represents our emotions, our internal world, how we express ourselves. It’s our unconscious, how we feel about things. Whereas the sun is our outer world, it’s how we act and appear to those who know us.
When the sun is in Pisces we can feel the influence of Pisces’s ruling planets. Jupiter is giving us a tap on the shoulder and says pay attention to issues related to social justice, be willing to help others. While Neptune is saying let’s dream big, let’s use our imagination, our emotions to get creative. But the shadow side of this energy is hypersensitivity or we can get stuck in this dream land that doesn’t just make us incredibly sensitive, we can become passive and indecisive. So at this time you may be feeling much more inclined to stay home, to really surround yourself with people who make you feel comfortable and allow you to explore the depths of your imagination, people who are able to empathize with you and others. You may also find this emotional and imaginative period of time to be one in which you feel compelled to write a story, a song, to paint something, to live out a dream and give acting a go for example.
However the Moon in Pisces is really bringing out the inner introvert in a lot of us. When we experience the Piscean dreamland, we can sometimes feel insecure. We may want to take a wait-and-see kind of approach, or wait for our dream scenario – something out of a romantic comedy to play out – but that passivity may just leave us sitting on the sidelines. So there is a balancing act required during this Pisces New Moon. But then on the shadow side of this energy, we may convince ourselves that we now understand what our dream life looks like or what our dream partner is like, but we could be wearing rose-colored glasses at this time especially if you have a habit or an addiction to drugs and alcohol.
Like I mentioned, Neptune one of the rulers of Pisces is connected to pharmaceuticals, to addiction, pollution, toxicity, and during the time of the Pisces New Moon, Neptune will be at home in Pisces, giving a little extra oomph to its power. So that’s more of the shadow side of Neptune in Pisces, but the empowered presence of Neptune tells us that this is an energy of mystical powers, it’s that sincere, spontaneous loving energy that says, I was thinking of you and wanted to gift you something and there is no expectation. It’s just all about love and sensitivity.
Given the sun and moon are conjunct there may be increased feelings of what about me? At this time. We may feel a little vulnerable and may need attention from loved ones, but it may come off to others as being codependent, a little self-centered.
Both the sun and moon are conjunct Saturn in Aquarius at the time of the Pisces Super New Moon. Saturn is our strict teacher who is able to ruthlessly examine our maturity. It is the archetype of the sage who uses pain as a means to get our attention on what we should focus on and what we should continue to develop.
When Saturn is in Aquarius there is a clash between wanting freedom, along with law and order, rules and regulations. There can be fights, protests, demonstrations against principles that prevent our liberation, but there also may be attempts by corporations, governments, big top-down structures to grab more power in the name of order and control. So there’s a balancing act – we have to learn to free ourselves from what limits us, while uniting with likeminded people and groups to identify what changes need to be made to benefit all, not just a few.
Saturn is nearly at the anaretic degree of Aquarius, it’s at 28 degrees during the time of the Pisces New Moon and will move into Pisces starting in March 2023 and stay there through 2026. When we have a planet at the final degree of a sign, the anaretic degree, it brings more potency to that energy because it’s kind of like the planet’s energy is having one last hurrah. The downside is that the shadow side usually is more dominant than the empowered side. Saturn has been in Aquarius since March 2020 and as it makes its way to Pisces, there may be some last minute attempts to grab for more power and control before Saturn makes its way into Pisces for the next three years.
Saturn is conjunct the sun at the time of the new moon, which brings an energy of self-discipline. There may be changes on the horizon and this is an energy that doesn’t exactly like change, but it’s also an energy that says you are strong and have enough energy to overcome adversity and challenges as they come up in your life.
Saturn is also conjunct with the moon, which brings an energy of stability and honesty, particularly in difficult situations. However the shadow side is that when the moon is in pisces, we don’t always trust what we’re feeling so we can come across cold and reserved, we can find it hard to express what we feel to another.
We also have Venus in Pisces at the time of the Pisces New Moon, sadly Venus is making her way into Aries, so she’ll be at the 29th degree during the Pisces New Moon the anaretic degree, So Venus in Pisces is a time in which love, beauty, sensitivity, compassion, our imaginations are all fully expressed, and it feels safer than ever to explore these topics. It feels safer than ever to view everything from the tiniest insects to the budding flowers and trees and holy and alive. But at the time of this Super New Moon in Pisces, we may feel like we’re drowning in love, like it’s too much, overwhelming. Or we could feel like we’re bearing our heart, sharing the depths of our soul with someone and it’s just not reciprocated the way we expected or anticipated it would be.
Venus is conjunct Neptune at the time of the New Moon. This aspect essentially brings an increased sensitivity, a sense of romance, and an innate ability to idealize our partner. But the shadow side, the challenging side is that we can be easily disappointed and make mistakes such as moving forward with a toxic relationship because we’re so enamored with the fantasy of who we love. But if you are in a healthy relationship, this can be a time when we experience deep heart-led conversations, we experience romantic dinner dates, sexual magic, and it just fuels us with love-based inspiration, creativity, and imaginations.
We can also experience love for animals, for planets, for ourselves at this time.
During the New Moon Venus is forming a sextile with Pluto in Capricorn. Pluto is at the anaretic degree of Capricorn, so the shadow side of this planet is more dominant at this time. But this harmonious aspect allows us to experience relationships very deeply. The tricky part is that we may require our partner to dive deep into the ocean of love with us and they may not feel as open or as romantic as we hoped.
Mercury is in Aquarius at the time of the Pisces New Moon. Mercury rules our thinking, our communication, intellect and learning. When mercury is in aquarius, we can learn a new foreign language, we can understand more abstract ideas, we can tap into our intuition, and we can feel a sense of freedom to just say what we want to say, write what we want to write. However, Pisces’s dreamy imaginative energy can sometimes trick us into believing something that others find highly unlikely or untrue.
Mercury will be square to uranus in Taurus at the time of the new moon, so this challenging aspect can bring extreme views, you may find other people or you are forcing your opinion onto others, and our opinions can be really extreme, so how we communicate may come off as very arrogant or reluctant to compromise. It’s a very strong headed energy, it’s rebellious and chaotic. I should note though that Uranus is the planet of quantum changes, it’s very future, forward thinking, so although some ideas may seem unrealistic now, these views may be accepted in the future, because there is something curious and intelligent about them.
Mercury is forming a harmonious trine to Mars in Gemini, which essentially gives us the courage, the strength to act and think in a different way, it’s also an energy that favors analytical thinking.
And we have Mercury forming a sextile with Jupiter in Aries. This brings optimism, kindness and openness. It’s not the most philosophical or dream-like energy or thought pattern, but it’s having those conversations that feel satisfying to the soul, it’s the energy of learning new things and feeling fulfilled by knowledge and increased understanding of the world around us.
All in all this is a powerful new moon in which you may feel as if you are being struck by lightning with idea after idea pouring into your mind. Sit with them, tap into your intuition, take a meditative walk, and really allow what is important to you to come to the surface, to tap into how you can co-create your dream life with the universe.
