Just a few notes before we start talking about the upcoming Sagittarius New Moon.

Alright let’s get into the Sagittarius New Moon happening on November 23, 2022 at 2:57 PM Pacific Time.
The sun and the moon will both be at 1 degree, 37 minutes of Sagittarius at the time of the Sagittarius New Moon, and especially since we just finished eclipse season with the Solar Eclipse New Moon in Scorpio on October 25, which was at 1 degree, and then we had the Total Lunar Eclipse Full Moon in Taurus on November 8, 2022, this Sagittarius New Moon feels like the start of something new.
Whenever we have planets at 1 degrees, we have another clue that we are starting something new because the first degree is ruled by Aries, Aries is the natural ruler of the first house, it’s the first sign of the zodiac, and Aries is a warrior, but Aries has a warrior spirit because Aries energy is the energy that goes first. It’s the energy that initiates something and moves forward, even if it’s never been done before, even if you have no clue what you’re doing, but you’re listening to your intuition. There’s a trust there, a sense that this is not a fool’s errand.
And Sagittarius is the spiritual philosopher, the traveler, the teacher of the zodiac, represented by the symbol of an archer because the energy of Sagittarius is looking to the future. It’s setting our sights on something, possibly the future. But whatever it is, liking the archer aiming her arrow, we are setting our sights high here with this energy.
Sagittarius is a fire sign, and during the new moon, there will be a lot of active fire energy going on. Fire energy is fast, it’s passionate, but also sometimes angry, that’s the shadow side. Fire energy is also humorous, energetic, and rules the heart.
During the time of the Sagittarius New Moon, four of the big 6 personal planets will be in Sagittarius. In addition to the sun and moon in Sagittarius, mercury will be at 10 degrees of Sagittarius, and Venus will be at 9 degrees of Sagittarius, indicating that our ability to love and communicate with those from foreign lands may be enhanced, we may find understanding with those who speak different languages, common ground with those who have different views, or cultural norms, in other words we all may be coming together, uniting for some common cause at this time.
Mercury in particular DOES NOT love to be in Sagittarius, but then again when things are flowing well, perhaps Mercury will find being in the sign of higher education, wisdom, spiritual insight, knowledge, isn’t so bad as a communicative energy? Maybe our message will be better received than in the past?
It feels like power to the people-type energy. And that would make sense because Uranus has been in Taurus since 2018. Uranus doesn’t like to be in Taurus as I’ve shared with you before and with the Total Lunar Eclipse earlier this month, Uranus was highly activated to the point where it wanted to break free, and the energy of Taurus as a fixed earth sign is to hold things tight which further makes Uranus, the planet of quantum leaps and changes, a galactic planet, a planet of transformation and grassroots movement, community-first energy, want to burst out and just force slow and steady Taurus to get on with it and make the necessary changes like yesterday.
Uranus was further provoked during the Total Lunar Eclipse by squaring Saturn, the fatherly lord of karma, whose energy is more structured, top-down governing, laws, rules and regulations energy. There have been numerous challenging aspects between Uranus and Saturn since 2020, further hinting that there are massive changes coming. Because whenever we have a challenge between the past, Saturn, and the future, Uranus, the future always wins in the end. And now that we are on the other side of the pandemic, I think it’s fair to say that we are experiencing quantum shakeups and advancements in terms of how we live life, how we work, how we show up for ourselves and one another, how we expect our governments to act and support the people, our relationships with each other, our relationships with food, money, freedoms, how we view the Earth, like almost everything and anything is changing.
So perhaps this Sagittarius New Moon’s fiery high priestess, spiritual energy will bring with it some kind of breakthrough moment where we may realize we are more alike than we are different, perhaps there may be some kind of event where humanity comes together and realizes our egos have really been behind a lot of our actions and words, and perhaps we’re realizing that following our ego has done more harm than good and it’s time we made love not war – Venus. Maybe messages, insight, spiritual downloads will come through for you at this time, you’ll have more aha moments, but it won’t be as painful to hear or receive these tough love messages, as they’ve been softened by Venus.
Sagittarius is a mutable energy which means it’s flexible, it’s adaptable because it’s always learning taking on new information. But that means the shadow side is we can be indecisive. Mars is retrograde in Gemini, Gemini and Sagittarius are on the same axis of the zodiac, if Sagittarius is the teacher, Gemini is the student, gathering information, learning, talking, sharing, studying anything and everything. So like Sagittarius, Gemini is a mutable sign, and Gemini is where we find Mars retrograde. Mars has been retrograde in Gemini since October 30 and will remain retrograde in Gemini until January 12, 2023.
So during this time when Mars is retrograde we may find it’s harder to complete tasks, it’s harder to get projects done or garner attention for our work. We may find that we are misunderstood more often, other people’s words may seem more aggressive than usual, you may find people more aggressive on the roads, more accidents related to hands and feet, which is why it’s not recommended to get tattoos during this time.
When Mars goes direct, it will remain in Gemini, which is something I previously shared with you as well, that Mars would be in Gemini for about 8 months, from August 20, 2022, until March 25, 2023, far longer than the normal two months Mars spends in any given sign.
Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter. Jupiter is the planet known as the great benefic, the most auspicious planet, because it often expands energies of abundance, wealth, good fortune, joy. Jupiter in our natal chart represents our blessings, it’s where we have good luck, where we are meant to expand in life, it’s our spiritual blessings, and where we find joy.
During the time of the Sagittarius New Moon, Jupiter will be in Pisces, another sign ruled by Jupiter, so it’s feeling at home, really comfy. And Jupiter is at 28 degrees Pisces, forming two separate trines with the sun and moon, which are both at 1 degrees Sagittarius, with Pluto at 26 degrees Capricorn.
Of all aspects in astrology, a trine is the most harmonious one, and often brings with it good luck, harmony, and the potential for positive changes.
And I love that we have the sun and the moon together, so we are planting seeds for something new, something to come, perhaps by the time we experience the Sagittarius Full Moon on June 4, 2023, we will be able to harvest the fruits of the seeds we plant now, or perhaps we will at least start to see the fruits of our labor sprout.
Pluto is the planet of transformation. It’s shedding skin, growing, evolving; some call it a born and die kind of rebirth energy because it’s that powerful, deep kind of transformation, it’s not surface level at all.
Pluto has been in Capricorn since 2008 and will be moving into Aquarius for a little bit starting March 23, 2023 until June 11, 2023. Then it will retrograde back into Capricorn until January 2024. Pluto spends 10-20 years in a particular sign and during that time, there is often massive transformation that occurs. For the last 14 years or so, Pluto has been in Capricorn, and I think it’s fair to say that during that time we have seen massive changes in anything traditional like the way governments operate throughout the world, there has been pushback, there has been power grabs, really any sort of corporate-structured institution like banks, educational institutions, political organizations, health organizations, a lot of them have undergone massive transformations and changes since 2008.
And when Pluto moves into Aquarius, we are likely to see a whole new kind of transformation occur related to progressive, community focused Aquarian topics as Pluto will be hanging out in Aquarius until 2044. We’ll get into that later but historically when Pluto has entered Aquarius, we tend to see a lot of grassroots, power to the people type movements, women and other marginalized groups tend to break through traditional glass ceilings imposed by Capricorn type energy. But then again, Aquarius likes to level the playing field, and it’s ruled by both Saturn and Uranus, so we may find that there are parts of our life that transform and become more equal in ways that we enjoy. But simultaneously we may also find that we’re forced to share with those we may not want to or may not agree with. So there’s an ebb and flow in all of this, and it’s possible these challenges that force us to grow and evolve are for our highest good. Just putting that out there and reminding myself of that.
Additionally there is a trine between the sun, moon, pluto and neptune at 22 degrees of Pisces. Indicating that whatever changes occur at this time, we’re likely going to feel very idealistic, optimistic about it. With Neptune, there’s a chance we have foggy, rose-colored glasses on, but given it’s in a harmonious aspect,and Neptune is feeling at home in watery Pisces, I would say this energy is likely operating from its empowered state, not the shadow side.
So if there is a big change that comes, perhaps we collectively, or you individually, maybe both, will be able to make the best out of the situation, turning lemons into lemonade.
Truly, when I look at the chart for the Sagittarius New Moon, it looks really positive, like there’s a lot of good to come out of this energy.
The biggest challenge I see is a square between Neptune and mars, which technically started on November 19. We’ve had this aspect before, around mid-October, like October 12, and we’ll experience it again in March 2023 for a third and final time. This is a tough energy in the sense that it brings with it low-energy and intense, impulsive aggression.
So this is really a time to slow down, rest, ignore messages from your ex, and like that meme that went viral recently, if you fuck around right now, there’s almost a guarantee people will find out and it will become a scandal. Be careful on the roads, watch your fingers, toes, hands. Be careful if you go out to bars, like people could just throw bottles, like that level of impulsive aggression. That’s why again, be careful on the roads, because road rage could escalate faster than you may have expected or anticipated.
Sagittarius is the natural ruler of the ninth house which is all about travel, wisdom, philosophy, higher education, law and religion, cross-cultural relations, learning, and ethics.
As I mentioned before Sagittarius is represented symbolically by the archer. Take time to think at this Sagittarius New Moon to think about: where are you aiming your arrow, where do you have your eyes, where is your focus, where your focus goes, energy flows.
And Sagittarius energy is about joy, fun. Where can you set yourself free and explore new ways, new energies, new people, new environments, new cultures, a new journey. A journey of new beginnings, a new you?
New Moons are all about planting seeds, and with Jupiter and Pluto playing such a large yet harmonious, auspicious role during this New Moon I think it’s fair to say now more than ever it’s time to dream about your ideal world. To dream about how you live, how you love, how you take care of yourself, how you show up for others. Don’t worry about the how, just enjoying creating the perfect dream world. The dream seeds you plant now may become your new reality.
Look and see which house Sagittarius rules for you – that’s likely to give you the best indication as to which area of your life new beginnings are likely to emerge in, and where you may want to focus your energy and attention.
If you are a sun or rising Sagittarius, Gemini, Pisces or Virgo you are likely to feel the effects of this New Moon the most, especially if you have planets or aspects around 1 to 4 degrees of mutable signs – Sagittarius, Gemini, Pisces or Virgo.
Whatever happens externally at this time, know that you are safe. You are loved. You are divinely guided and supported and I love you.
