Gemini New Moon | June 2023

Gemini New Moon | 26°, 42” | Saturday, June 17 | 9:36 PM Pacific

I am a western tropical astrologer, all of my updates will follow that astrological format. I use the sacred interpretation method meaning your astrological forecast will always be described in the sense that challenges are opportunities, not a form of punishment. And that you have free will, meaning nothing is set in stone, I use astrological forecasts to help give you permission to listen to your intuition and live your best life as your true authentic self.

I use the whole house sign system, meaning your rising sign rules the entirety of your first house and every person has all 12 zodiac energies within them. I use the archetypal energies of the planets, the zodiacs, and history to create something similar to a weather forecast so that you can make plans and validate your emotions based on the kind of energy you are swimming in at this time.

Of course, I can only give generic forecasts without looking at your unique individual chart. If you want a more personalized energy forecast or reading, I offer personalized astrological reports like a PDF, this is the most affordable option available on the elevated aura website, and I have one-on-one virtual readings as well, which you can schedule on the elevated aura website.

Without further ado let’s get into the Gemini New Moon, happening on June 17, 2023 at 9:36 PM Pacific Time, so you can adjust that based on your timezone.

Like the Taurus New Moon last month, this Gemini New Moon is happening at the end of Gemini season. Gemini season ends June 20 and Cancer season begins June 21 with the Summer Solstice.

Remember when we have a New Moon at the end of an astrological season, it’s a signal that there is something coming to an end, there’s an energy of closure as well as new beginnings because that’s what New Moons are all about. It’s planting the seeds for what we want to invite into our lives, what we’re working to manifest or create, particularly in the area of our lives that is ruled by Gemini in this case.

As the sun moves into Cancer a few days later, the light energy flowing to Earth is increasing. As the light descends upon the Earth at such a strong rate, carried further by the Trade Winds, cracks begin to form in the surface of the Earth, allowing even more Crystalline light energy to flow through to our human bodies.

Light helps us awaken, learn, grow, improve, realize. As the crystalline energy intensifies, we may feel inspired to take a risk, to step into our courage, to be brave, to initiate something new, begin a new episode in life. The Cancer Summer Solstice will bring with it a new energy, but it’s not the Cancer New Moon. There will be an additional new start, more new energy when we have the Cancer New Moon on July 17.

Given we have this trend of the New Moon occuring at the end of a zodiac’s season, and we have a lot of planets going retrograde in the next few months, I really see this as a time for us to heal karmic debts, heal trauma, and really allow ourselves to go through a metamorphosis process and transform from the inside out.

Overall I see this Gemini New Moon as a time in which we are seeking and experiencing clarity related to how we communicate with others, our ability to write and speak in ways that accurately represent and reflect our beliefs and emotions, as well as heal self-worth wounds we likely experienced in childhood, particularly those wounds that came from being rejected or harshly criticized by our mother or mother figure.

Gemini is the Intellectual of the Zodiac, it’s the astrological sign associated with communication, logical thought processes and the conscious mind. Gemini is the natural ruler of the third house of the zodiac which is all about the mind: online business, writing, speaking, teaching, mental energy, general business. But it also covers our local life, our siblings, relatives like cousins, friends who live nearby, and short distance travel.

A mutable air sign, Gemini energy is curious, quick-witted, and perpetually pumped to connect with others on just about anything. Thanks to its ruler, Mercury, the planet of communication, Gemini’s energy is associated with a nonstop super-social vibe and eagerness to gather information. But it’s not always about other people with Gemini energy. Represented by the symbol of the twins, Gemini energy is also about mirroring back to us, reflecting back our true nature. That can be our shadow side, our higher self, reparenting, self love, healing our core wounds.

Gemini is a yang energy, an air sign, meaning it’s more about logic, chatter, talking, communication. Gemini’s get a reputation for being quick minded, talkative, being in their head, thinking logically not with emotions as much as a water sign would.

Air energy is very logical, ethereal but given Gemini is also a mutable sign, it means the energy can be unfocused, that’s a shadow side because Gemini is always learning, adapting, to a point where we become indecisive by all of the options presented and available before us. Gemini’s astrological buddy is Sagittarius, so where Gemini is the student learning, learning, learning, Sagittarius is the teacher, the professor energy.

Gemini energy tends to put more importance on being able to be intellectually stimulated by others because their internal world is so active and colorful they need to be around others who can keep up with that energy and engage in deep, intimate, conversations.

Because Gemini energy is so friendly, talkative and bubbly, Gemini can adapt to its surroundings with ease, that being said, Gemini is very intellectually stimulated energy so not only are they verbally communicating, or writing their thoughts down, but it’s really common for those with strong Gemini placements to have a very active internal world, a very powerful and vivid imagination.

Where will the planets be during the Gemini New Moon?

During the time of the Gemini New Moon:

  • Sun in Gemini
  • Moon in Gemini
  • Mercury in Gemini
  • Uranus in Taurus
  • Jupiter in Taurus
  • North Node in Taurus
  • Venus in Leo
  • Mars in Leo
  • Saturn in Pisces (retrograde)
  • Neptune in Pisces
  • Pluto in Capricorn (retrograde)

After moving into Aquarius in March 2023, Pluto retrograded back into Capricorn on June 11, 2023, where it will remain in retrograde until October 10, 2023. Pluto has been in Capricorn since 2008 and as it spends its last few months in Capricorn, Pluto is giving us an opportunity to transform the area of our lives ruled by Capricorn, to help us grow and evolve, shed our skin so to speak so that we can turn pain into opportunity.

Pluto will move direct in Capricorn starting in October 2023 and will move back into Aquarius in January 2024 through September 1, 2024, before taking a short trip back into Capricorn. Pluto will begin moving back into Aquarius where it will permanently remain starting November 2024 through January 2044.

Also the same day as the Gemini New Moon, Saturn will retrograde in Pisces and will remain retrograde in Pisces until November 4, 2023. Saturn represents an area of our life where we need to get serious, it’s a challenging energy that asks us to take responsibility and authority, so it can feel restrictive. But Saturn’s energy is really designed to help us grow. With Saturn retrograding in Pisces, this energy over the next five months or so may ask us to reevaluate our emotional lives and be realistic about what no longer serves us, what we need to feel emotionally and mentally secure and safe, and who is really there for us.

At the end of the month, June 30, Neptune will also move retrograde in Pisces through December 6, 2023.

And we’ll talk about this more around the Cancer New Moon, but the Nodal Axis is shifting in July. The North and South Nodes are moving off the Taurus-Scorpio axis and onto the Aries-Libra Axis starting July 18, 2023. And on July 22, 2023, Venus will retrograde in Leo until September 3, 2023.

So that’s what I mean when I said that this energy for really the second half of 2023 is all about redoing, rethinking, transforming who we are from the inside out. When I look at the calendar ahead in August for example, there are six planets retrograde simultaneously – Pluto will be retrograde in Capricorn, Saturn will be retrograde in Pisces, Neptune will be retrograde in Pisces, Venus will be retrograde in Leo, Mercury will be retrograde in Virgo, and Uranus will be retrograde in Taurus.

Retrogrades are nothing to fear – I know Mercury retrograde in particular has a bad reputation. But really a retrograde means that the planet’s energy is not operating in a straightforward way, sometimes it’s stronger, sometimes it’s more internalized energy, but it’s not necessarily good or bad. It’s a chance like I said for transformation, largely a chance to redo something or to rethink, reshare something from a new perspective.

Challenging & Harmonious Aspects

Like with any New Moon, the Sun is forming a strong conjunction, an exact conjunction with the Moon. When we have a New Moon in Gemini, it’s an energy that is filled with quiet strength. We may have more of a firm grasp on who we are, how we self-identify outwardly, and our emotional responses, our subconscious feelings are integrating well with that outward conscious expression of I AM. Because there is an energy of confidence, the Gemini New Moon can be a great time to make progress on new projects, particularly those that involve writing and speaking.

The Sun is forming a strong Square with Neptune however, so our confidence in ourselves may be due to some kind of spiritual, ethereal, otherworldly energy or vision we’re experiencing. Yes, it’s possible we can be misguided by rose-colored glasses with Neptune at play in dreamy Pisces, and this may manifest as our willingness to sacrifice what is good for us to appease someone else or a group of people. We may also find ourselves escaping to a dream land in our minds, evading responsibilities or tough decisions because Neptune may make us feel we are too softhearted to deliver the truth, to ask for what we want or need. So there may be some who don’t feel confident to assert themselves at this time. But the Sun energy is here to remind us that both positive and negative feedback is for our greatest good. Honest, accurate feedback is crucial, and there is a need for us to be honest with ourselves and others. That being said, Neptune in its empowered form may be used to help us create art, music, drama, poetry, or some other kind of art. So there’s a lesson here in learning how to balance reality and ordinary life with this colorful, artistic, spiritual world in our hearts and imagination.

The Moon is also forming a strong square with Neptune at the time of the Gemini New Moon, which is really adding more energy to our ability to be emotionally sensitive, idealistic and loving. This is likely why we may find ourselves really valuing time at home for the next few days, dreaming of an ideal partner, or viewing our partner through rose-colored glasses. Some may find their imagination is popping off and you’re able to create or tap into a whole new world of fantasies. Or perhaps you’ll find yourself to have more psychic abilities around this time. Again, use caution that you’re not sacrificing yourself or your needs for others. We also need to use caution that we are not deceiving ourselves with this energy, so while romanticizing our lives or our ideal world is fun and there’s nothing wrong with imagining best case scenarios, just make sure that you come back to the real world of logic and fact and don’t lose yourself in a fantasy.

Mercury is forming a strong sextile with Venus, really giving us a youthful energetic boost when communicating with others. We’re likely to come off to others as friendly, charming, sociable, and really be able to tap into creating and seeing beauty around us, as well as our more artistic side. Our voice when speaking or writing may be more pleasant than usual, and our ability to express ourselves through speech and writing in a way that is persuasive without coming across as aggressive.

Jupiter is forming a strong sextile with Saturn, which is helping us feel quietly ambitious, strong in our morals, and an active social life. With this energy, it’s a blend of optimism with practical judgment so there is a strong drive to achieve success and impress other people, as well as to be a force for good within our community.

The Sun is forming a semi-square with Venus which is making us feel more emotional, but in a cheerful way, we feel warmer toward others and have an easier time showing affection. We’re also drawn to physical artistic expressions such as music and dancing, and beautiful surroundings. While some of us may appear flighty to others, overall this is a time when we are going to come across as graceful, charming, and well-liked to others.

The Sun is in septile with Mars at the time of the Gemini New Moon, which brings with it an energy of impatience and a quick temper. We may find ourselves to be lacking patience or easily getting into arguments or even restless. Think of this energy as being hot and cold. We may have a short fuse on the one hand but on the other hand we may feel so easily excited about something that we don’t think things through and accidentally engage in risky behavior. We may also find ourselves being overly opinionated and not taking into account another’s perspective or feelings because we are so focused on our own goal. Even if we mean well, we run the risk of alienating ourselves, so just make sure that you are making decisions from a place of calmness and judgment free.

The Sun is also in septile with Jupiter so we may find ourselves being overly generous with money, physical forms of affection, and food. So again, use caution to not overdo things or be overly optimistic. Really tap into feelings of gratitude, higher learning, and the fine arts to help avoid some extravagant spending or errors in judgment.

The Sun will be inconjunct with Pluto at the time of the Gemini New Moon, further making us feel like it’s my way or the highway. We may become fixated on our strong desires, on our desire to be recognized and admired for who we are and what we stand for, but this aspect cautions us that when we are not shy about expressing our beliefs we can sometimes come off as having a big ego. This energy also brings with it a communal aspect – we may find ourselves championing the underdog, particularly when it comes to social justice-related issues. And we may find ourselves in intense romantic relationships that we know are not for our greater good but our ego leads us to believe it’s the best we can do – there’s an energy of insecurity driving our decisions. But when we take the time to explore these subconscious feelings, we may find that it gives us the awareness of our need for growth, and perhaps the confidence to transform and rebirth who we are and what we stand for.

The Moon is forming a semi-square with Venus, which can bring a flavoring or manifest as if we are somewhat difficult to get along with. Sure, we may be kind or artistically gifted, but we can be hard to live with. Behind closed doors we may complain about having to act as if we are charming in social situations and that may lead us to end some close personal relationships or spend money unwisely. There’s a lesson here that we need to really understand what we value in life and cultivate more respect for what we say we do value.

The Moon is forming a septile with Mars, bringing with it an energy that is very emotional, nervous, unsatisfied, and rebellious. We may feel very analytical at this time and find ourselves thinking originally and independently from those around us, but when we express our brilliant ideas we may come across as intolerant or others, selfish and demanding.

The Moon is forming a septile with Jupiter during the time of the Gemini New Moon, which may manifest in the form of being more tolerant of others than normal, allowing us to enjoy the company of others, enjoying good food, as well as finding ourselves attracting material rewards and finances easily. But use caution, we may find that we spend money as quickly as we earned it as there is a tendency to overindulge, especially with Jupiter in Taurus.

The Moon is inconjunct Pluto at the time of the Gemini New Moon, which may make us feel emotionally sensitive, intense, introspective, and craving emotional insecurity. So because of that need to feel reassured we may find ourselves wanting or demanding time with partners or creating a home environment where we feel safe and secure. Because our need for security is so high, our need for emotional reassurance is so high, we may come across as if we’re engaging in dictatorial behavior. On the other hand, this energy may manifest itself by allowing us to tap into the emotions of other people, with psychic-like abilities. We may find ourselves really attuned with the emotional states of others or working to break through emotional limitations we experienced as a child. If you had a controlling mother in particular you may get some clarity at this time or some insight as to how you are still battling for your own autonomy and what you truly need on an emotional level. The lesson here is that our hidden motivations often have insight as to what kind of survival issues we experienced in the past and where our insecurities lie, and what we need from ourselves to feel safe and secure so that we’re not demanding it from other people and just recreating that parent-child relationship energy.

While this New Moon in Gemini is emotional and charismatic, we’re not likely to be at a loss for words. With Mercury forming a sextile with Mars, we are likely to never be at a loss for what to say and we may have a keen sense of how to poke holes in what anyone else says to us at this time. There’s a strong mental energy with an aggressive attitude behind it. We may feel we have the courage to say what we strongly believe and feel, and have excellent analytical reasoning in order to defend our perspective.

Mercury is also forming a square with Saturn giving us more concentrated energy, deep mental energy in particular, so that we can communicate clearly with others. On the shadow side, with our minds so activated, we may find ourselves more nervous than usual as our subconscious fears, particularly fears of inadequacy take over. To compensate we may find we overcompensate or we isolate ourselves. The lesson in this energy is to learn to have faith and trust in yourself, to know that by being who you are you will find the people who appreciate you for you, who enjoy you for you. And when we can relax and trust ourselves to just be, we may also find that we are less rigid in how we think and speak.

Venus is conjunct Mars in Leo at the time of the Gemini Full Moon, which brings with it a great love life. We are likely to come across as sexually attractive and be sexually attracted to our partners at this time, and really relate well to our partners, as well as enjoy family life. Physical movement is important in this energy, not just sexual physical movement, but anything where we can move or be active with our partners such as music concerts and dancing. There is a chance we can be more sensitive than usual at this time but as quick as we are to be angry with our partner, we’re likely to be just as quick to forgive.

Venus is forming a square with Jupiter in Taurus. This energy is filled with gracefulness, beauty and appreciation for literature and the arts. We can also feel attractive and confident, but be careful to not let your ego drive the show or become so restless that you crave new kinds of romantic adventures or romantic flirtations with others. So use caution that you are making the decisions and are in charge and you’re not allowing others to influence you too much.

Venus is inconjunct with Saturn at the time of the Gemini New Moon, bringing an energy of deep concentration or feelings that our ability to communicate with others is blocked. While you may be loyal to those around you, and have a strong sense of duty to those you love, and be incredibly sensitive to the needs of others, it may be to the detriment of your own well-being. You may be uncaring for yourself, even cold to your own needs, which may manifest in the form of sorrow or a nagging discontent in life, bitterness or fears of rejection. The lesson here is that we have the opportunity to rise above rejection and instead love ourselves, integrate balance between what we need and want with what others around us need and want. We have an opportunity to explore relationships from a lens of mutual understanding which will help us feel more self confident in the end.

Venus is sesquiquadrate with Neptune and this aspect brings with it a love of beauty and the arts, particularly music, painting, and an interest in spiritual matters. We may feel compassionate and kind, sensitive to the needs and suffering of others, and our imagination may be incredibly powerful, allowing us to envision all sorts of worlds. The shadow side of this aspect is that we can become enmeshed with others. Essentially we can confuse the emotional pain of others for our own and vice versa. The challenge here is to learn how to develop a more discriminating attitude when it comes to relationships and really trust and gain confidence in how we see the world.

Mars in Square with Uranus is an aspect that brings with it a lot of pioneering, courageous energy. We’re operating from an intuitive place and our intuition feels strong, so we’re thinking differently from others, we’re bringing new ideas into the conversation, but we may come across as rebellious, rash, impulsive or angry. In our hearts we believe that we are not coming from an egoic place, that we’re envisioning a highly-idealistic goal, that we are bringing consciousness and clarity to an idea. But if others don’t see this the same way we do or with the same enthusiasm, we may not feel seen or appreciated and can self-isolate or appear emotionally sensitive.

Saturn is forming a quintile with Uranus in Taurus, which helps us bring a real-world practicality to our future-oriented visions. The challenge here is to avoid knee-jerk reactions, particularly against established authority, and learn how to establish and trust our own personal authority.

Neptune in sextile with Pluto is an aspect that brings new possibilities and new connections into our awareness. The unconscious needs of others is particularly strong, another aspect enhancing our psychic abilities, and helping us understand how we can help co-create New Earth, a world where we unite mankind and work together instead of against each other.

The Sun is forming a weak trine with Saturn at the time of the Gemini New Moon allowing us to concentrate more and have a deeper understanding of who we are and how we show up in the world. We may find ourselves feeling strong-willed and determined at this time, but to others we can appear selfish, cautious or reserved. All of us are likely to want to feel recognized by others at this time, not all of us will get the recognition we believe we deserve, so practice having respect for your own accomplishments. Learn how to deepen and broaden your knowledge and understanding of who you really are at your core, at a soul level. And as you journey to learning more about you, allow yourself to fall in love with that person.

The Moon is forming a weak trine with Saturn as well. So while we’re gaining a deeper understanding of who we are and how we show up in the world, we’re also deepening our understanding of our feelings. As we journey through our subconscious understanding, gaining clarity for why we feel the way we do, we may find ourselves more sensitive than normal. And this is because we may have some insight or suddenly realize that we were not properly cared for, we were outright rejected, in some instances by parental figures, mainly our mother. The lesson with this aspect is that in order to better develop a sense of security in ourselves, to develop greater self-acceptance we need to explore and value our early childhood experiences and what makes us who we are at an emotional level.

The last aspect I want to call to your attention is Jupiter forming a weak square with Pluto. This aspect compels us to transform ourselves by reframing what is important to us, what do we value, and how we work with and see other people. For example, do we see others as people we can control and need to be convinced of our point of view, or do we see ourselves as being powerful healers or mystics who have much to share with others. The lesson here is to understand what is important to you and take the time to judge whether it’s something that is based on the good of all or an egoic boost.

How will this New Moon affect you on a personal level?

If you are a Sun or rising Gemini, Sagittarius, Pisces or Virgo, you are likely to feel the effects of this New Moon the most, especially if you have any aspects or angles around 26 degrees of mutable signs, Gemini, Sagittarius, Pisces or Virgo.

Find the house Gemini rules for you – this is the area of your life illuminated most by this Gemini New Moon and make a conscious wish, focus your energy on what you want to manifest so that by the time the Gemini Full Moon comes around later this year, hopefully you will start to reap the rewards, or see the sprouts of the seeds you planted during this New Moon start to grow.

I hope this helps you find some peace and validation during this time. Whatever happens externally at this time, know that you are safe. You are loved. You are divinely guided and supported and I love you.

Remember kindness starts within. If we were all to focus inward, to be kind to ourselves, before we started worrying about being kind to anyone else, this world would be such a different place.
