We have a New Moon at 7 degrees of Cancer on June 28 at 7:52 PM Pacific. The energy is active +/- 3 days before and after the New Moon on June 28.
The new moon is a great time to set intentions to build, nurture and grow in our reality
And this Cancer New Moon is all about integrating different parts of our self – like the cancer animal symbol the crab lives in water and on land – this Cancer new moon is an opportunity to catapult out of the old and into the new when it comes to emotional needs, relationships with other people, especially our family, and even our idea of what family or home even looks like.
Cancer is the nurturer of the zodiac. It’s all about family, family roots, feeling nurtured, supported, taken care of, but also taking care of others. It’s that maternal energy that is empathetic, sensitive, wanting to protect those we love.
Cancer is the sign of the Mother, representing motherhood, pregnancy, children, and rules parts of our body including our breastbone, stomach, and womb; so there may be pregnancy or relationship-related news like engagements announced in the next month, or six months when we have the Cancer Full Moon in December.
Cancer is a water sign so it’s very emotional but much more so under the surface than a Pisces would be emotionally.
Cancerian topics also include housing, property, food, nurturing, children, things having to do with caring or hospitality industries, such as social work and nursing.
Question to ask yourself during the new moon:
How can I better take care of my needs? What are my needs? Are there emotional needs I need to take into account? Is there any area of my life I need to invest more of my energy in emotionally?
How can I open my heart more? Especially to those we may not resonate with or may find difficult to love? What can they teach us? What can we learn from them?
The Cancer New Moon is asking us to take into account:
- Our beliefs and belief system as it relates to individual goals related to home and family
- And to examine whether we have a strong emotional support system in our life; If the answer is no, the energy is asking us to consider how we can build a support system in our lives?
During this time we may feel the need to make an effort to meet the needs of our family, our communities more than before. We may also be expanding our idea of family and home as the energy is asking us to reexamine:
What does home mean to us? What does family mean to us? What does family look like? Who cares for us? What is our comfort zone? What familial beliefs have we carried with us that have limited us from having the emotional connections and support we desire?
Look at your natal chart – do you have any personal planets or angles to your ascendant or midheaven AC or MC around 7 degrees of Cardinal Signs? If yes, you are going to feel this the most.
Cardinal Signs include Cancer, Capricorn, Libra, Aries – If you have planets and/or angles around 7 degrees of these signs you may feel this event more strongly. So look to see where is Cancer in your natal chart? Which house does it rule? Cancer is the natural ruler of the fourth house, so look at your fourth house as well as the natural ruler of the house that Cancer is in in your natal chart.

Making this a very powerful time for manifestation. Where your focus goes, energy flows is especially true now.
Adding to the power of the moon; Mars is in its natural rulership in Aries; Mercury is in Gemini, its natural rulership, so there’s a lot of powerful, forward moving energy.
Although there’s a lot of forward momentum, this new moon is inviting us to slow down, do less, find the places, the things, the invitations that resonate as a full body yes, and not accept anything less than that full-embodied “fuck yes.”
Make no mistake – this energy is not saying take it easy, go ahead and rest; it’s saying take that leap of faith; stretch your boundaries, but do it in those areas of your life that bring you joy, passion, excitement, relationships, connection, family, a sense of belonging, home, community.
Jupiter will be in a harmonious aspect to Venus during the new moon, which is a signal that we don’t have to figure out all the answers on our own; if we open ourselves up to situations that make us feel emotionally uncomfortable or vulnerable, we may come to find that the kind of collaboration ends up being for our greater good.
Emotional vulnerability, feeling emotionally raw, can be a good thing with the right people. Healthy relationships help us heal from traumatic relationships. Truthfully Isolation, abandonment, can be healed through relationships that make us feel loving, supported, nurtured, cared for.
So one activity that may be particularly powerful right now is to Visualize people coming together; you can even visualize those you love who have passed away or who are no longer in your life, and send them love. You can send loving thoughts to the trees, flowers, oceans, people in your community.
As I flagged for you previously ahead of the Cancer Summer Solstice, Jupiter was Square Black Moon Lilith on the World Axis of Cancer on the Solstice and it will square again on the Cancer New Moon.
black moon lilith if you recall has a natural association with human gestation as she spends 9 months in each sign but being that Cancer is the sign of motherhood ; issues around motherhood, pregnancy, babies – formula shortage and Roe vs Wade are all happening.
The Cancer energy as its ruled by the Moon is very feminine, but the energy during the New Moon will have a lot of yang, masculine energy to it as well due to placements of Mars and Pluto. So there could be a lot of anger, fights, outburst.
Neptune is also going retrograde in Pisces – the high expression of this energy is wanting to live in daily connection with divine, spiritual community, daily practice with spirituality; low level expression drugs, toxicity, addiction, secrets, deception,
And on a related note, on June 27, the day before the New Moon, Mars will be conjunct Eres. Eres is the Goddess of Chaos, she stands up for the rights of human beings and wants everyone to be heard. She brings energy associated with sovereignty and independence. And I find this interesting too – Eres & Uranus will be conjunct later as well, both Eres and Uranus stand for individual rights; and given this conjunction squares Capricorn, which is government, energy, top down, rules and regulations, power and control,
