What does the cosmos have in store for us this May 2026?
May 2026 is not a quiet month.
This is a rare Blue Moon month, bookended by two Full Moons—beginning with an emotionally charged Scorpio Full Moon on May 1 and ending with a perspective-shifting Sagittarius Full Moon on May 31.
Once in a blue moon, we get a month like this: one that feels both deeply emotional and wildly clarifying. A month that begins by asking us to descend into emotional truth and ends by asking us what larger meaning we’re choosing to make from everything we’ve learned.
May begins with intensity.
The Scorpio Full Moon pulls what has been hidden into plain sight. Emotional undercurrents rise. Relationship truths surface. Power dynamics become impossible to ignore. We may collectively feel as though something long buried is demanding acknowledgment—whether in our personal relationships, financial systems, communities, or our own inner emotional landscape.
There is a sense that we can no longer pretend not to know what we know.
And yet, alongside this emotional intensity, Venus sextile Saturn brings maturity. Rather than impulsively reacting, there is an opportunity to respond with greater emotional responsibility. We may feel more called to invest in what is lasting: trustworthy relationships, stable community, and long-term emotional security.
At the same time, Mercury conjunct Chiron reminds us that honest communication is not always comfortable. Conversations may touch old wounds around not being understood, not being heard, or feeling intellectually dismissed. But through vulnerability, healing becomes possible. There is medicine in realizing our struggles are not uniquely ours.
As Mercury enters Taurus on May 2, the pace begins to slow.
After the emotional storm of the Full Moon, collective energy becomes more deliberate. Communication softens. We become less interested in reactive opinions and more focused on what is practical, sustainable, and real. Conversations may increasingly center around finances, food systems, the body, resources, and how we create greater stability.
Still, not all movement feels smooth.
Mars square Jupiter on May 4 can bring heightened frustration, impulsivity, and overextension. There may be a collective sense of wanting immediate change while lacking clarity around the most effective course of action. Tensions can escalate quickly if emotional reactions outpace thoughtful action.
Then May deepens.
On May 5, Mercury square Pluto signals conversations and information that may feel confronting, revealing, or transformative. Secrets surface. Difficult truths emerge. We may collectively become aware of deeper systemic issues requiring attention.
Yet Mercury sextile the North Node suggests that even uncomfortable information can become catalytic. Conversations begin orienting us toward solutions. There is a stronger desire to learn from one another, exchange practical knowledge, and strengthen local community ties.
The real turning point of the month arrives on May 6 as Pluto stations retrograde in Aquarius.
Pluto retrograde is less about external chaos and more about internal reckoning.
Since Pluto entered Aquarius, many have been reevaluating their relationship to community, collective systems, technology, power structures, and belonging. This retrograde asks: What are you no longer willing to tolerate? Which communities still align? Which no longer do?
Collectively, we may feel less interested in superficial forms of connection and increasingly drawn toward authentic, values-based communities.
Venus opposite Lilith on the same day adds another layer: suppressed emotions—particularly anger, resentment, or unmet needs—may demand expression. This transit challenges outdated ideas that emotional authenticity must always appear pleasant or palatable. There is a stronger collective willingness to acknowledge righteous anger and emotional truth.
By mid-month, the energy begins shifting from emotional excavation into intentional rebuilding.
Sun sextile Jupiter and Mercury sextile Jupiter bring optimism, opportunity, and greater mental clarity. Confidence slowly returns. The collective may feel more hopeful about what is possible.
Then comes one of the most important transits of the month: the Super New Moon in Taurus on May 16.
After weeks of emotional revelations and difficult truths, this New Moon asks a simple but powerful question:
Now that you know what is no longer sustainable, what do you want to build instead?
Taurus energy is practical, embodied, and future-oriented. This is a powerful reset around finances, self-worth, stability, food, physical wellbeing, and long-term security.
This is less about dramatic reinvention and more about laying foundations that can actually endure.
Around the same time, Mars conjunct Chiron can activate old wounds around courage, self-belief, and action. We may collectively feel challenged to move forward despite fears of inadequacy or past hurts.
Then the pace changes dramatically.
On May 17, Mercury enters Gemini, its home sign, and the collective mental atmosphere accelerates.
Conversations increase. Curiosity expands. Information moves rapidly.
This energy supports:
- learning
- teaching
- writing
- networking
- short-distance travel
- community engagement
The following days are mentally electric.
Mercury conjunct Uranus can bring sudden insights, unexpected news, disruptive conversations, or radical shifts in perspective. What once felt fixed may suddenly appear far more fluid.
This can feel destabilizing—but also liberating.
By May 18, both Mars enters Taurus and Venus enters Cancer, softening collective energy considerably.
There is a stronger desire to protect what matters.
Attention turns toward:
- home
- family
- emotional safety
- nourishment
- long-term security
The collective mood becomes more protective, nurturing, and security-focused.
As the month progresses, multiple Neptune aspects encourage greater compassion, creativity, and imagination. Yet they also ask us to discern fantasy from reality—particularly in relationships and ideals around unconditional love.
Not everyone can go with us into our next chapter.
This theme becomes especially clear around May 21–28 as several challenging aspects test our emotional boundaries, expectations, and relationship dynamics.
Questions emerge:
- What does healthy care actually look like?
- Where have we confused enabling with compassion?
- Which relationships can hold emotional truth—and which collapse under it?
Late May may feel especially transformational.
Sun conjunct Uranus, Mars square Pluto, and Mercury opposite Lilith create friction between old patterns and emerging truths. Surface-level dynamics no longer satisfy. Many may feel compelled to disrupt stale social dynamics, confront uncomfortable realities, or finally speak what has long gone unsaid.
Then, on May 31, the month closes with the Sagittarius Full Moon.
After everything May has revealed, Sagittarius helps us zoom out.
Where Scorpio demanded emotional honesty, Sagittarius seeks wisdom.
Where Scorpio asked us to feel, Sagittarius asks us what meaning we are making from those feelings.
This Full Moon offers:
- perspective shifts
- truth expansion
- release of limiting beliefs
- greater clarity around future direction
We end May with a wider lens.
Not necessarily with all the answers—but with more honesty, more self-awareness, and a stronger understanding of what deserves our energy moving forward.
May 2026 is a month of emotional truth, strategic rebuilding, and expanded perspective.
It begins in emotional depth.
It ends in philosophical clarity.
And once in a blue moon, a month comes along that changes how we see everything.
This may be one of them.

May 2026 Astrology Calendar: Key Transits & Dates
May 1: Full Moon in Scorpio
The Scorpio Full Moon will occur at 10:22 AM Pacific Time on May 1. The Full Moon will be at 11°20’ of Scorpio. Find the house that Scorpio rules in your natal chart, that’s the area of your life being illuminated by this Full Moon. Think back to what was going on in your life around Nov. 19/20, 2025, that’s when we had the New Moon in Scorpio.
If you have personal planets or important astrological points between 6°-16° of the Fixed Signs: Scorpio, Taurus, Leo, and/or Aquarius, you will feel the impact of this Full Moon the most, at least on a personal level. And given that your natal planets are forming challenging oppositions or squares to the moon, this could feel like more of a challenge to overcome at this time.
If you have personal planets or important astrological points between 6°-16°of Gemini, Leo, Sagittarius, and/or Aquarius, you may find this Scorpio Full Moon activates harmonious energy between the Moon and your natal planetary placements.
May 1: Venus sextile Saturn
When it comes to how we show love, how we express our feelings, there could be such powerful emotions, such strong feelings that we realize the responsible mature thing to do is to share our feelings with a safe, trustworthy person. We may also feel that if we have the financial means to give back to our community, to organizations that support others, especially children, or to volunteer or offer service to support others emotionally or through artistic means is how we show up as leaders moving forward. There’s perhaps an increased recognition of the importance of connection in community and viewing our local community, our literal neighbors in a new light.
May 1: Mercury conjunct Chiron
The very way we communicate with others could feel challenged around this time. For some of us, it may be a familiar wounding experience of not being heard, understood, or for your ideas to even be considered. There can be difficulties with technology, social media, learning, studying, or communicating. For others, it’s possible we could have conversations with siblings, cousins, friends, people in our community and realize we are not alone in the kind of hardships we’ve experienced in life. In other words, communicating our feelings could come easily. We may find ourselves courageously sharing emotional truths we have not necessarily planned on sharing. And even though it doesn’t completely heal our wounding, knowing we’re not alone can have healing benefits.
May 2: Mercury enters Taurus
The way we communicate, study, and learn is slowing down as Mercury moves from Aries to Taurus. We’re thinking before we speak. And when we do speak, Venus-ruled Taurus is softening the language we’re using. We could also have an increase in communication about Taurus-ruled topics including food, agriculture, farmers, wheat, relationships with loved ones, our physical body, our possessions, and using our voice.
May 4: Mars square Jupiter
We’re trying to take action on something, but it’s not coming to fruition easily. On the onehand, part of the issue could be that we just have so many thoughts on how we can take action depending on what we feel like we are at war with at that moment. There are perhaps so many truths being revealed in the wake of the Scorpio Full Moon that it could feel like our focus on what we want to take action against is constantly in flux. If you’re dating, you may want to note that this energy can be quite sexually charged, but it’s an energy that doesn’t always respect no as an answer. Make sure to take extra safety precautions around this time and listen to your intuition – especially if you’re in a crowd and it feels like the atmosphere is off or aggressive.
May 5: Mercury square Pluto
How we communicate with loved ones could be undergoing some kind of transformation or there could be a truth that is revealed that leads to a death and rebirth of our relationships. We could hear news about restrictions when it comes to food or other material possessions; or it could be that we learn of an obstacle in accessing all of these goods. We could also learn a secret about our loved ones, specifically a romantic partner, or our partner finds out a truth we’ve been hiding.
May 5: Mercury sextile North Node
Whatever difficult news we may be learning around this time seems to be inspiring us as an Earthly human collective to have more conversations with one another and share knowledge about topics like gardening, flavorful budget friendly recipes, or we are leaning on the ideals of spiritual oneness, an entire Earthly family, an ocean of love between humans, animals, plants, water, etc., and it’s perhaps inspiring us to choose to heal or forgive our friends, neighbors, cousins, siblings, for harms or wrongs against us. And we may similarly find ourselves communicating with our local community to organize a solution collectively.
May 6: Pluto Retrograde Begins
Pluto Retrograde lasts from May 6 – Oct. 15, 2026. Pluto will be moving from 5°,30 to 3°04″ Aquarius. If you have any personal planets or important astrological points between 3-5 degrees of Fixed Signs: Taurus, Leo, Aquarius, and Scorpio will feel this the most on a personal level, not just a collective experience. If you have planets or points between 3-5 degrees of Gemini, Aries, Sagittarius, and/or Libra, you may experience this retrograde more harmoniously or easily on a personal level.
Pluto represents our greatest pain and greatest opportunity for transformation. It’s shedding skin. Growing and evolving energy. It’s where we experience big ups and downs. Pluto first entered Aquarius for the first time in roughly ~250 years in March 2023, but after retrograding back into Capricorn in 2023 and 2024, Pluto made its permanent move out of Capricorn and solidly into Aquarius on Nov. 19, 2024.
Aquarius is the water bearer of the zodiac. It’s an energy that scoops up the watery emotions of the collective community and helps release it for others. Aquarius is a humanitarian energy that wants to lead from the bottom up. It’s an energy that favors power to the people collectively, not a select few. This Pluto Retrograde is asking Aquarian’s in particular to get out of their heads and stop using so much logic; to actually feel the intensity of their emotions for once so that these feelings, these lessons can be integrated.
Pluto first reached 3°04″ of Aquarius around March 7, 2025. But on May 4, 2025, when Pluto was at 3°29” of Aquarius, Pluto stationed retrograde and was retrograde through Oct. 13/14, 2025 when Pluto reached 1°22″ Aquarius. Pluto reached 3°04″ again around Jan. 11, 2026 and will be at 5°,30” of Aquarius when it stations retrograde.
Think back as to what was going on in your life, what kind of truth was being revealed between January 11 and May 6. What did you find yourself no longer tolerating? How did your ideas of community change?
May 6: Venus opposition Lilith
Our understanding of love, truth, and nurturing, emotional power, is getting a shakeup. There can be increased appreciation and acceptance of divine feminine rage. If something is deeply wrong, is it reasonable to expect we handle this with a soft voice? Is that realistic? Or is it more powerful, authentic, to express your rage? Safely, of course.
May 10: Sun sextile Jupiter
Whatever we’re focused on consciously, whatever it is we are creating could be getting a boost. It feels like luck is on our side and as a result we are feeling happy and optimistic. It may feel as if the universe is in support of what we’re creating as it tends to go smoothly. We may find an unexpected income or financial windfall comes our way. Or perhaps our creative talents, our home cooked meals could lead to financial gains. If you’re planning long distance travel or cross-cultural collaborations it is most likely going to go well. If you’re looking to connect with different social groups or dating, you may find a group of people, or a potential romantic partner, that you really resonate with.
May 12: Mercury sextile Jupiter
We’re feeling confident about our ideas and dreams and we’re sharing them with ease. Relationships with local community, friends, siblings, cousins are going smoothly. If there was some tension around the Scorpio Full Moon perhaps we’re repairing that relationship now with a clearer head and a more optimistic mindset. We’re feeling more nurtured and our ideas reflect a greater appreciation for our own self worth.
May 14: Sun conjunct Mercury
We’re speaking our truth and learning more about topics that inspire us to be who we are and do what we really love. We’re sharing ideas with others on how we care for ourselves, how we use our willpower to get things done. And when our heads and hearts are in alignment, we can accomplish a great deal.
May 16: Mars conjunct Chiron
Someone or something is pressing on our biggest wound. And if we’re not careful we’re going to respond to someone essentially twisting their thumb into the biggest bruise on our hearts by taking action in an aggressive, impulsive manner. We could retaliate without stopping to think if our reaction is equal in its response to the perceived aggression or goading we experienced. It’s also possible that we’re recognizing the way that our biggest wound has made us play small, has affected our ability to unconditionally believe in ourselves and we could take action to further our goals or humanitarian causes despite it feeling like a steep mountain we’re climbing without a safety net.
May 16: Super New Moon in Taurus
Find the house in your natal chart ruled by Taurus. This is the area of your life being illuminated by the Taurus Super New Moon and this is the area of your life where you’re being asked to plant seeds for what you would like this area of your life to look like or feel like six months from now.
The Taurus Super New Moon will be at 25°57’ of Taurus. If you have natal planet placements or important astrological points between 20°- 29° of Taurus, Scorpio, Leo, and/or Aquarius, as well as 0°- 1° of Gemini, Sagittarius, Pisces, and/or Virgo, you will feel this Taurus New Moon the most on a personal level, and may find this time to be more challenging as your natal planet placements are likely being pushed to overcome obstacles and grow into the next version of you.
May 17: Mercury enters Gemini
Mercury is the ruler of Gemini. In its home sign, Mercury feels it has full permission to get curious. To have conversations with all kinds of people about any topic under the sun. Gemini is the student of the zodiac. And Mercury is how we learn. It’s by asking questions, reading textbooks, getting your hands messy. Getting in the car and driving to local museums, trying new local restaurants, getting together with local friends, neighbors, community.
May 17: Venus sextile Chiron
How we love, how we create art, how safe we feel sharing our emotions has all been influenced by our upbringing. But as we collectively share our challenges and wounding in love and feeling understood and accepted by others, we may find ourselves connecting over a shared emotional experience of disconnection and abandonment. This has the potential to act as a healing catharsis, as we begin to show up for one another in ways that begins to heal our biggest wounding of unlovability.
May 17: Mercury conjunct Uranus
We’re speaking truths we once deemed too radical to express. Our ideas of what is acceptable to share or even our understanding or perception of knowledge we once believed to be black and white, our relationship with community, innovation, truth, could all be getting a shake up.
May 18: Mars enters Taurus
Mars wants to take action. He is impulsive and courageous after all. But in Venus-ruled Taurus, the planet of love softens Mars’ sharp edges just a bit. Mars is now being wined and dined. He wants to get up and go out and do what he said he was going to do, but now instead of taking off without a plan or a snack for when the inevitable hunger hits, Mars is developing a strategy, coming up with a plan to keep his endurance high. This is an energy that supports stability.
May 18: Venus enters Cancer
Our focus becomes on beautifying our homes and tending to our loved ones. We are feeling very nurturing, very protective, very sensitive. Emotional safety is our priority and we may find our priority becomes comfort over glamour. Think decorating with kids art on the walls instead of Monet.
May 18: Mercury sextile Neptune
We’re communicating our ideas in a way that feels dreamier, more emotional, more inclusive. There’s perhaps an expansion of our understanding of philosophy or spiritual topics at this time that is changing our understanding of what we consider family, or community. Mercury is in Taurus and while Taurus is the lover of the zodiac and not the nurturing maternal energy we associate with Cancer, Neptune is an energy that is a higher octave of Venus. It’s an exalted love that has the entire Earth as an ocean of love, a family that includes not just humans from all walks of life, but plants, animals, trees, water. This understanding or new perspective could affect how we view our bodies, how we think of food or the Earth.
May 18: Venus sextile Mars
We’re taking action to create stability when it comes to food, finances, and caring for our loved ones. We’re thinking long-term here and are really taking our time to figure out what we have the long-term endurance for. What is going to get us to a place where we have emotional security, our homes and families are safe and secure and we have the basic supplies needed: food, water, shelter, love, medicine (health).
May 19: Mercury square North Node
We’re learning something, a truth is being revealed that is in conflict with our understanding of how we think, how we communicate, how the world works. We may have been led to believe we were the only form of life or civilization in the entire universe and it may be revealed that we’re not even the only form of civilization on our planet. This could have a large shakeup in our understanding of religions, faith, spirituality, and even how we perceive health – both physical and mental health – conditions.
May 19: Mercury trine Pluto
We’re learning something new that is forever changing, transforming our understanding of the world, one another, and ourselves. We could be changing, adapting the way we learn, what we consider truth or facts could be in flux, and our relationships with local communities, neighbors, siblings, and cousins could all be shifting.
May 20: Sun enters Gemini
Happy birthday Gemini Suns!
For the next month, you may find yourself really curious about the world, communicating with extra frequency or passion especially with local neighbors, friends, cousins, and siblings. You may have a lot of appointments or be busy around town, driving a lot of short distances.
May 21: Venus square Neptune
We’re having some challenges integrating expanded versions or interpretations of unconditional love because there is recognition that some people are abusive or unkind, and in truth, not all humans get along. So we’re needing to rectify how we provide emotionally, financially, materially, for those we care about and those we may not care about as much.
May 22: Sun conjunct Uranus
Our conscious energy, our understanding of who we are is going through a bit of a shakeup as we integrate everything new we’ve learned recently. The way we communicate can change, what our interests or studies focus on can change, and there can be disruptions in our relationships with community, local neighbors, friends, cousins, and siblings.
May 22: Mercury sextile Saturn
We’re learning so many new things, there is so much information coming out at such a fast pace, it could feel difficult to keep up. We’re putting boundaries in place with what kinds of information we’re reading or studying and we’re also perhaps constricting or limiting where we access information and with whom we’re sharing our thoughts and knowledge with as well.
May 22: Venus trine North Node
How we love and care for others and ourselves is expanding. We’re less concerned about whether someone is “deserving” of care and love and nurturing and we’re more likely to give unconditionally the way that a Grandmother or Mother is unconditionally willing to give to her children for the rest of her life, even when her child is no longer legally considered a child.
May 24: Mars sextile North Node
We’re taking action in a responsible, planned out manner to create a world or community that values everyone and anyone. We’re removing restrictions on what makes someone worthy of love, of food, housing, etc.
May 24: Sun sextile Neptune
Our energy is focused on supporting the underdog. We’re also perhaps putting an effort into creating art, films, music that helps us feel seen for who we are, or perhaps communicate a feeling we have yet to figure out how to express via words. We could also be finding a creative new way forward, perhaps expressing spiritual love for others more directly and bluntly.
May 25: Sun square North Node
Our ego is having to soften if we’re going to be a collective Earth that works together. It can be difficult to let go of dreams you’ve envisioned for yourself, a life you thought you would have. There can be some grief as we let go of what we thought life would be like and we step into what life actually has in store for us.
May 25: Mercury opposite Lilith
Perhaps most of our interactions with community thus far has been superficial. We only know about each others lives due to social media. We play comparison games, but Lilith is saying enough is enough. Do you actually like and care about one another or are you genuinely interested in having community around you to celebrate your wins, your birthdays, your anniversaries, and to help pick you up and remind you of your worth when life inevitably gets hard? Sometimes you have to ruffle feathers, stop the surface level conversations and let your rage, your true feelings out. What is friendship really worth if it’s not unconditional acceptance of who you are at your core?
May 25: Mars square Pluto
The way we want to take action to ensure we have a responsible and safe amount of finances, material possessions, food, etc., could encounter an obstacle or block that we didn’t expect. And this could have us revisiting how exactly we’re going to take action to ensure we are protected?
May 26: Sun trine Pluto
The very idea of who we are and what is important to us is changing. Our relationship with knowledge, community, siblings, cousins, friends, it’s all changing, perhaps taking on a more significant role.
May 28: Venus square Saturn
Our ability to love, nurture, and care for others may feel constricted. We may not feel emotionally secure and that affects our ability to feel safe in our feminine energy. We may also find ourselves struggling with creating art, music, or expressing love.
May 31: Full Moon in Sagittarius
The Sagittarius Full Moon will occur at 1:44 AM Pacific Time on May 31. The Full Moon will be at 9°55’ of Sagittarius. Find the house that Sagittarius rules in your natal chart, that’s the area of your life being illuminated by this Full Moon. Think back to what was going on in your life around Dec. 19/20, 2025, that’s when we had the New Moon in Sagittarius.
If you have personal planets or important astrological points between 5°-15° of the Mutable Signs: Gemini, Sagittarius, Pisces, and/or Virgo you will feel the impact of this Full Moon the most, at least on a personal level. And given that your natal planets are forming challenging oppositions or squares to the moon, this could feel like more of a challenge to overcome at this time.
If you have personal planets or important astrological points between 5°-15°of Aries, Aquarius, Leo, and/or Libra, you may find this Sagittarius Full Moon activates harmonious energy between the Moon and your natal planetary placements.
